FRANCESVILLE - Marie Ruth Tiede Smith, 77, of Francesville, passed away at 10 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 24, at her residence in Francesville.

She was born April 22, 1935, in Rensselaer, to the late Ronald Charles and Sylvia Lehman Tiede. She married Chester G. Smith Sr. on July 28, 1967 in Rensselaer. He survives

Mrs. Smith was the director of houskeeping at the Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte, Fla. for several years. She also worked as a housekeeper and cook at the Monon Elementary School. She had worked for several summers as a supervisor at Indiana Beach in Monticello. She operated an antique shop in Rensselaer for several years. She was a member of the VFW Auxillary and the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed going to auctions and buying and selling antiques. She liked gardening and needle point sewing. She loved her dogs.

Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel-Francesville. Moose services will be at 7 p.m..The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday (Feb. 28), at the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Gutwein officiating. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery, Francesville.
