John R. Mangum
October 5, 1960 to January 8, 2013
ROYAL CENTER - Pastor John R. Mangum, 52, of Fulton, formerly of Royal Center, died at 6:51 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 5, 1960 in Whittier, Calif., he was the son of the late John R. Mangum, Sr. and Mary June DeShon Smiley. On Feb. 15, 1992, he married Michelle L. Smith, she survives.
Also surviving are his children, John Michael, Jennavive and James all at home; sisters, Julie Mangum of Chino, Calif., Patty Doughty (Mike) of Many, LA, Katie Hudson (Adam) of Running Springs, CA and Laura Diener (Brett) of Many, LA; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ron and Edna Smith of Kokomo; brother-in-law, Ron S. Smith, II (Shannon) of Kokomo and sister-in-law, Heather Schimmelpfennig (Dean) of Kokomo. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Pastor Mangum was currently serving at Fulton United Methodist Church and Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church at Lake Bruce. He also was a member and Chaplain of the Royal Center Masonic Lodge #585. He formerly pastored at Park Place Church of God in Bedford and San Bernardino Church of God in San Bernardino, Calif. He was a U.S. Army veteran who loved spending time his wife and children. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Visiting with the family will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the services on Saturday (Jan. 12) at the Royal Center United Methodist Church Family Life Center. A Celebration of Life service with Masonic and military rites will follow at 3 p.m., with Pastor Kevin Drane officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to Community State Bank in Royal Center where there has been a fund placed in care of the Mangum Family.
