James Dobson
December 19, 1929 to August 10, 2010
WHEATFIELD - James G. "Jim" Dobson, 80, Winamac, passed away Tuesday morning, Aug. 10, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital Winamac.
He was born Dec. 19, 1929 in Vest, KY, the son of Coet and Hattie (Messer) Dobson. On Dec. 18, 1954, in Rensselaer, Jim married Delores Howard who survives.
Also surviving are four children, Bill Dobson, Washington, IN, Don (Deb) Dobson, Brenda (Joe) Krulik, and Steve (Michelle) Dobson, all of Winamac; 11 grandchildren, Billy Dobson, Jr., Brent Dobson, Alyssa Dobson, Chantel Dobson, Heather (Brian) Sanders, Travis (Melony) Dobson, Brad (Erica) Dobson, Shawn Krulik, Trenton Krulik, Lacie (Tyler) Gutwein and Spencer Dobson; five great-grandchildren, Taylor Sanders, Kailey Sanders, Michaela Majercin, Emma Dobson, and Shelby Dobson; three step great-grandchildren, Andrew Jimenez, Matthew Jimenez and Nathan Jimenez; four sisters, Erma (Cecil) Williams, Rensselaer, Imogene Bell, Winamac, Claudine Childers, Francesville, and Gladys (Larry) Stonebraker, Battleground; and two brothers, Hobart (Adna) Dobson, Rensselaer and William (Diane) Dobson, Winamac and a sister-in-law, Alice Dobson, Wheatfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Joseph John Krulik, Jr., and a brother, John Dobson.
Mr. Dobson was a resident of Winamac for 38 years, also having lived in Medaryville. He started in car sales at Frank Felder Chevrolet in Rensselaer. He opened Dobson Auto Sales in Rensselaer and was later the long time owner-operator of Jim Dobson Ford Mercury in Winamac. He was a 30-year member of the Kiwanis Club and a member of the Wheatfield Pentecostal Church of God.
Friends will be received at the Pentecostal Church of God in Wheatfield on Thursday, from 3 to 8 p.m. CDT. The funeral service will be held at the church on Friday (Aug. 13) at 10 a.m. CDT with Rev. Eveston Risner officiating. Burial will follow at Idle Cemetery, Winamac.
Memorials may be made to the family which will go toward a scholarship to be given in memory of Jim.
