WINAMAC - Carole A. Shorter, 73, of Winamac, passed away at 5:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov, 15, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac.
She was born Oct. 14, 1939, in Winamac, to Frank and Geneva Cords Smith. She married Robert Eugene Shorter on June 1, 1957, in St. Peter's Catholic Church, Winamac. He passed away Nov. 10, 2008.

Mrs. Shorter was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Pulaski Memorial Hospital Auxillary, and the Lion's Club, all of Winamac. She also volunteered with the Pulaski Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She assisted and educated people in the community with diabetes. She worked with the hospital to install LifeLine devices. She enjoyed sewing and playing cards. She loved to travel with family and friends. She loved to be with her grandchildren, especially at their school and 4-H events. She was an amazing woman.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. A scriptural wake service will be held at 6:30 p.m. The funeral mass will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday (Nov. 20), at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Winamac, with Rev. Martin Sandhage officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Winamac.
Memorial donations may be given to St. Peter's Catholic Church, Diabetes Association, or Leukemia Association.
