WINAMAC - Earl Garrison Smith, 78, of Monterey, passed away at 5:50 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Autumn Hills Health and Rehab Center, DeMotte.

He was born Feb. 3, 1934, in East Gary, to the late Charles Roland and Katherine Helen Brown Smith. He married LaVerne Carol Heavilin on Oct. 18, 1961, in Hobart. She survives.

Mr. Smith was a resident of Monterey for the past 15 years. He formerly resided in Portage. Hel was a retired custodian from the Portage School System.
He also had been a custodian for US Steel, Gary.He served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed going to auctions, selling odds and ends, raising rabbits, and working at auctions.
