Ivan D. Haselby
October 27, 1922 to February 21, 2012
WINAMAC - Ivan D. "Ike" Haselby, 89, of Winamac, passed away at 2:40 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac.
He was born Oct. 27, 1922, in Grass Creek, to the late Firman and Hazel Hiatt Haselby. On Nov. 6, 1949, he married Pauline D. "Peg" Bonnell in Logansport. She died Nov. 9, 1984. On Dec. 26, 1992, he married Dolores C. Loehmer O'Connor in Winamac. She died Jan. 18, 2012.

Mr. Haselby spent most of his life as a farmer in Pulaski County. He also worked 17 years on the Pennsylvania Railroad in Logansport. He served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Infantry during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the VFW Post #1728 and American Legion Post #91. He was an active member of the Star City United Methodist Church. He especially enjoyed working with the youth, organizing the Easter sunrise breakfast, and serving as head usher for many years.
Mr. Haselby served as a Pulaski County Commissioner. He also served as a member of the Van Buren Township Advisory Board, Pulaski County Soil and Water Conservation District Board, Pulaski County Drainage Board, and Pulaski County Jail Building Corporation. He was also a member of the Star City Lions Club.
He liked listening to WGN Radio and books on tape as well as watching a variety of sporting events on TV. He was well known as one of the best Euchre players in the area. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m.,Thursday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac; and one hour prior to the service at the church Friday. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday (Feb. 24), at the Star City United Methodist Church with Pastor Ron Mabry and Pastor Kevin Drane officiating. Burial will be in Star City West Cemetery. The American Legion and VFW will conduct military graveside services.
