Mrs. Nufer was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Winamac. She had worked at the Medaryville Garment Factory and also as a bookkeeper at Mayhew Elevator.
She was an exceptionally gifted woman who used her gifts in service to others. She greatly enjoyed creating a warm and inviting home, doing much of the work herself. Her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens provided beauty and food for family and friends. A marvelous seamstress, she, for many years, made clothing for herself, her husband, and others. Her beautiful afghans now grace the homes of many, received as gifts from Mrs. Nufer or donated by her as fundraisers for the many charitable causes which she embraced. Never a woman of considerable means, her great generosity enriched the lives of many.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. A rosary service will be at 7 p.m. A scriptural wake service will immediately follow the rosary. The funeral mass will be at 11 a.m., Monday (Feb.13), at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Winamac, with Rev. Martin Sandhage officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Winamac.
