Don R. Wiesjahn
April 24, 1933 to January 9, 2012
AVON - Don Richard Wiesjahn 78 of Plainfield, passed away Monday, Jan. 9.
He was born April 24, 1933 in Star City to the late Donald D. and Beula Wiesjahn. He married his wife Roberta in 1979. She survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Debra Wiesjahn, Indianapolis; sons Ronald Wiesjahn, Indianapolis and Dan Wiesjahn, of Newburgh; two stepdaughters Terri Wood, Indianapolis, Gail Stephens, Sarasota, FL and stepson Thomas Williams, Indianapolis. Also 22 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Dean Wiesjahn, and his first wife, Donna Jones Wiesjahn.
Mr. Wiesjahn worked as a sales agent for 39 years for John Hancock Ins. Co. Upon retiring, he also worked for Sun Life Ins. Co. and most recently worked for Pitney Bowes at their Baker & Daniels downtown site for 10 years, retiring again in 2005. He served in the Naval Reserve for 8 years.
He graduated from Star City High School in 1951. Later, he received his Charter Life Underwriters Designation in 1968. He was a member of Kingsway Christian Church in Avon. He played softball in Metro Stadium in the over-40 league for 24 years.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at Conkle Funeral Home Avon Chapel, and at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service which will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday (Jan. 13), at Kingsway Christian Church. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery Plainfield.
