Arthur D. Allen

June 10, 1928 to January 24, 2012

WINAMAC - Arthur Dean Allen, 83, of Winamac,  died at 8:29 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 24, at  Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac.

He was born June 10, 1928, in Star City, to the late Hiram and Flora Knebel Allen. He married   Magdalene A. Welter on Nov. 23, 1955 in the First Christian Church parsonage in Winamac. She survives.

Mr. Allen attended the First Christian Church in Winamac. He was a part of the building crew that constructed the church. He had worked as a carpenter and millwright. He was a member of Local 1043 in Hobart, for 50 years. He had worked at steel mills and other types of factories throughout the country.

He was a member of the Winamac Masonic Lodge and the South Bend Scottish Rite. He was also a member of the Elks Club in Eustis, Fla. where he and and his wife wintered following their retirement. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, woodworking and making gifts for his grandchildren. He especialy enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed traveling and camping. He and his wife have traveled much of the U.S.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. A Masonic service will be at 7 p.m. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday (Jan. 28), at the funeral home, with Pastor Rick Abbott officiating. Burial will be in McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac.

Memorial donations may be given to the Winamac Masonic Lodge.
