George S. Arnold
December 14, 1926 to November 20, 2011
WINAMAC - George Samuel Arnold, 84, of North Manchester (formerly of Winamac and Hammond), passed away at 5:45 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 20, at the Peabody Retirement Community in North Monchester.
He was born Dec. 14, 1926, in Marion, IL, to the late Samuel and Edna Rebeca Cox Arnold. He married Emma L. Woodon Oct. 28, 1950, in Hammond. She passed away March 24, 1997. He then married Margaret Elizabeth Finfrock on Jan. 3, 1998, in Winamac. She survives.

Mr. Arnold was a former resident of Hammond, moving to Winamac in 1987. He moved to the Peabody Retirment Community in North Manchester in 2010. He served in the U.S Navy during Wolrd War II. He was a member of the VFW Post #1728, Winamac. He retired from Shell Oil Co. in Hammond, after 37 years of employment. He also owned and operated a barber shop in Hammond for over 30 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Winamac. He was a Past Master and 50-year member of Winamac Masonic Lodge F&AM #262. He was also a member of the South Bend Scotish Rite.
Friends may call after 1 p.m., Friday, at First United Methodist Church, Winamac. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m., (Friday, Nov. 25), at the church, with Rev. Matt Landry, Pastor Kevin DeKoninck, and Pastor Sue Babovec officiating. Burial will be in McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac. The VFW and American Legion will conduct military graveside services. Winamac Masonic Lodge #262 will also conduct services at the gravesite.
Memorial donations may be given to the First United Methodist Church, Winamac, or the American Cancer Society.
