Bookbags for Crossroads CASA |
Adult volunteers in the CASA program advocate for children and youth who have been abused and/or neglected. There are 25 children in the Pulaski County program, eight of whom are awaiting a volunteer to advocate for them. The Crossroads CASA program has 83 children at present; 34 still need a volunteer advocate.
The backpacks prepared by the Foundry Student Ministry included a blanket, toothpaste, toothbrush, hairbrush - and a note of encouragement. The backpacks will be given to children as they enter foster care system in both CASA programs.

About CASA: The National CASA/GAL Association, together with state and local member programs, supports and promotes court-appointed volunteer advocacy so every child who has experienced abuse or neglect can be safe, have a permanent home, and the opportunity to thrive.
The CASA model and how it works: CASA/GAL volunteers are appointed by judges to advocate for children’s best interests. They stay with each case until it is closed and the child is in a safe, permanent home. We serve children from birth through the age defined by state statute as the limit to youth remaining in care.
