Coleman also shared that the Association of Indiana Counties hosts educational opportunities throughout the year including a Budget and Finance Class each year prior to district meetings and an additional class highlighting other topics not covered in the first class.
Attendees included: Ken Boswell, Jerry Locke, Jeff Richwine, Laura Wheeler along with Chris Schramm and Leeann Wright. Evaluations and participant comments following the session indicated it was a “very good and needed training.”
A survey of elected officials in 2021 identified training priorities. The number one topic was budgeting and finance basics. Three different workshops were offered to officials in 2023 at no charge through the CFPC Forward leadership initiative.
The Forward Thinking Leadership Initiative launched in 2020 in response to community input and with support from Lilly Endowment Inc. and the Community Foundation of Pulaski County.
The initiative has provided opportunities for the community to grow its leadership strengths and focus on investing in community action for the future good of Pulaski County.
