Tyson Mellon, plant manager at Girtz Industries, conducts a plant tour for members of the Alliance Bank Junior Board of Directors. |
Mellon welcomed the students and began by sharing his own background. He then gave a tour of the plant where the Junior Board learned the behind-the-scenes planning for power packaging solutions. Mellon explained that no matter what this team is given, their expert crew is always up and ready for a challenge to come their way.
The students toured the entire plant, including visits to rooms where employees were painting projects where they learned about how colors were chosen and what they are used for.
Mellon was also familiar with a few of the Junior Board members, as he is the West Central Girls Varsity Basketball Coach.
Before the tour, the Junior Board held a meeting and enjoyed refreshments and conversation. President Frank Diaz started the meeting with roll call and recording everyone’s community service minutes. The group decided on how much money at the end of the year was collected for an organization. The group was then presented with a financial and non-financial fact from two fellow Junior Board members.
Alliance Bank created the Junior Board of Directors in 2015 as a means to develop leadership skills in local students while connecting them with businesses and service organizations in their communities. The Junior Board includes 16 juniors and seniors from Twin Lakes, North White, Winamac and West Central high schools.
Alliance Bank is a proud community bank serving clients in Francesville, Monon, Monticello, Otterbein, Oxford, Rensselaer, Winamac and surrounding communities.
