"I know everyone has heard that farmers feed the world." said Stalbaum. "But it's more important that people understand we feed our neighbors. I want my community to have access to ground pork when they need some help getting meals on their tables. As a farmer, I feel that's our responsibility."
Stalbaum donated enough pork to provide meals to 1,744 of his Pulaski County neighbors. Co-Alliance, Northwind Pork and Land O'Lakes also provided a generous check for $1000 to the food pantry.
"This ground pork will help a lot of families," said Linda Burns, Pulaski County Human Services community services director. "We serve all ages and meat is always in demand."
The Pulaski County Food Bank donation is part of Indiana pig farmers’ year-round effort to support Indiana food banks and charitable organizations. A portion of other donations include Wheeler Mission, Gleaners Food Bank, the Ronald McDonald House, and food pantries in Cass and Wabash counties.
Indiana Pork is a not-for-profit association representing Indiana's nearly 3,000 family pork farmers through the pork checkoff program. Learn more at www.indianapork.com.
