The football programs at Winamac and Caston schools will be among the teams to benefit.
“Yes, this is a very awesome opportunity for our football program,” said Winamac athletic director Bryan Leverenz. “Our coaches will be able to go to Glazier Clinics, and they will be able to access the Glazier files to look at different strategies, schemes, and ideas that they could implement here at Winamac.
Even more pleasing, Leverenz said the team “will also have access to leadership and captains’ courses” which the coaching staff can implement. “That's very exciting because we as an athletic department are always looking for more ways to teach (leadership) so that our student-athletes not just become better athletes, but also become better people.”
Mike Prior, Colts Youth Football Commissioner, said, “We are proud to be a part of this effort to address the challenges under-resourced football programs in Indiana face. We hope these funds will grow these football programs, as well as provide new resources for our student-athletes and coaches to help make the game more fun, safe, and accessible.”
The programs sponsored by the Colts include:
- Anderson High School (Anderson)
- Caston Jr.-Sr. High School (Rochester)
- Crispus Attucks High School (Indianapolis)
- Decatur Central High School (Indianapolis)
- George Washington Community High School (Indianapolis)
- Seymour High School (Seymour)
- Southport High School (Southport)
- Speedway High School (Speedway)
- Washington High School (South Bend)
- Winamac High School (Winamac)
Each school will receive unlimited access to free resources from True Impact’s football partners, including Glazier Clinics coaching clinics and its online coach learning platform; Lead ‘Em Up leadership and team captain’s courses; and fundraising tools through Booster Club Academy. Each football program may also include its local youth football programs, such as elementary or middle school teams, in these activities.
“We believe every player, team, and community deserves a great football coach,” said Josh Peterson of True Impact Football. “We’re convinced supporting football coaches in these under-served schools will go a long way in impacting not only the players but the broader communities as well.”
