The incident occurred in the early morning hours, about 2:24 a.m., Sunday (Dec. 29), about two-and-a-half miles south of Winamac on the highway.
Day was traveling alone southbound on U.S. 35, about 875 feet south of DR 250S, when he lost control of his 1995 GM Suburban, running it off the road and striking a tree. County police report that roadway conditions, tire failure due to low tread, and speed to fast for weather conditions contributed to the accident. Toxicology results are pending.
Next of kin has been notified. No further information is available at this time, according to a report released Sunday by deputy coroner Jon Frain.
Among those responding to the scene were the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office, Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, Winamac Police Department, Pulaski County EMS, Winamac Volunteer Fire Department, Star City Volunteer Fire Department and Murray’s Towing.
