Ryan, son of Alan and Nancy Huggler, will graduate from WCHS in May. He has been involved in school activities including National Honor Society, FCA, SADD and Drama. He is also active in basketball, track, and cross-country.
He has also volunteered with vacation Bible school, Special Olympics, Junior Warrior Kids Day, and visited nursing homes, packed boxes for Operation Christmas Child, and helped provide breakfast for the community.
Ryan also started his own business with a friend to help elderly people and busy parents and has provided jobs to several youth in the community.
The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship is open to all Pulaski County high school seniors who will graduate with a diploma from an accredited Indiana high school and who intend to pursue a full-time baccalaureate course of study at an Indiana school.
Five finalists for the 2020 Pulaski County scholarship were announced in October from among local applicants. They were Ryan Lynch from West Central High School, and Taylor Clark, Samantha DePoy, Ryan Huggler, and Sarah Keller from Winamac Community High School.
Several scholarship applications from Pulaski County students were received and considered by the CF Scholarship Selection Committee. Candidates are nominated following an online application and an oral interview/presentation process. Nominees are then submitted to Independent Colleges of Indiana, Inc. (ICI) for selection in accordance with the criteria and procedures consistent with applicable law and the overall goals of the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship program. ICI is a nonprofit corporation that represents 30 regionally accredited degree granting, nonprofit, private co lleges and universities in the state.
Including the 23rd cohort, 4,769 full-tuition scholars have been awarded and over $405 million in scholarship tuition has been provided through the LECSP since the program’s inception in 1998.
