The Pulaski County Sheriff's office responded to the scene of the crash at about 9:50 a.m., Tuesday (Oct. 1), on U.S. 421, north of CR 200 S.
The initial investigation by Deputy Michelle Jackson determined Overmyer was driving a 2008 Kenworth gravel truck southbound on the highway. Clemons was driving a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser northbound on the highway, when for unknown reasons, Clemons’ vehicle drove left-of-center and collided head-on with the gravel truck being operated by Overmyer.
Clemons was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash by Pulaski County Coroner John Behny. Clemons' family was notified. At the time of this press release, the coroner’s office ruled the cause of death as blunt force trauma.
Overmyer was transported to Pulaski Memorial Hospital where he was treated for his injury and released.
U.S. 421 was closed for approximately six hours while the crash was investigated. Indiana State Police crash reconstructionists were requested and assisted with the investigation.
Assisting agencies included the Indiana State Police, Pulaski County Coroner’s Office, Pulaski County EMS, Pulaski County EMA, Medaryville Fire Department, Francesville Fire Department, and Pulaski County REACT.
