Wendy Rose, CFPC executive director, connected community generosity over the years to many grants that help address community needs and desires. Recent projects funded and their resulting impacts were described as road signs along the journey, making philanthropy visible to residents and visitors alike.
In addition to annual highlights, guests heard from Star City Lion Kathi Thompson about the impact of CFPC grants in their community. The most recent grants provided for electrical upgrades in the Community Building.
The foundation’s new “Board Bucks” program was also announced at the celebration, with the first $100 surprise grant from a board member awarded to the Star City Lions Club to assist in their good works.
Following a presentation by Jill Kasten, avid bike rider and trail enthusiast, guests were invited to walk or ride the trail at the end of the evening. In addition to enjoying the Panhandle Pathway, donors and guests had photo opportunities with a vintage bike and customized their own “picnic baskets” with a selection of tasty food.
