Graduation at West Central will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 26.
Shyla will attend Indiana University to study communications, business or journalism, and minor in Spanish and creative writing. She hopes to travel the world and write a best-selling novel one day.
In school, she participated in National Honor Society (2 years), Student council (4 years), Business Professionals of America (3 years), Fellowship of Christian Athletes 4 years), Art Club (3 years) and Yearbook (1 year).
Her awards and honors include Top 5 Scholar Award (four years), high honor roll (4 years), English Award, Biology Award, Geometry Award and Computer Award; Indiana Senate Certificate of Achievement Award, Anatomy and Physiology Award, Basketball West Central Way Award, qualified for Business Professionals of America state conference (3 years), Honorable Mention in the Art Show, West Central Art Award, Rising Star of Indiana, Silver Spike Award, Volleyball Most Improved Award, Academic All-State Track and Field, Track and Field All-Conference in the 4x400, National Honors Society Vice President, Student Council Secretary, Basketball Varsity Captain, Volleyball Varsity Captain, Track and Field Varsity Captain, rincipal’s Leadership Award, Four Year Athlete Award, and Coaches’ Award.
Her extra-curricular activities included four years of volleyball, basketball, and track and field.
Her interests include reading, writing and painting/drawing.
Kaelie will attend Valparaiso University to major in music education.
In school she was a member of National Honor Society for three years.

Anthony Award, Outstanding Choir Junior, West Central Music Spirit Award, ISSMA Instrumental District Solo Gold, ISSMA Instrumental State Solo Gold, ISSMA Vocal District Solo Gold, Indiana State University All-Star Band, Indiana Band Association All-Star Marching Band, President’s Education Gold Award, Outstanding Senior Economics Student, Outstanding Senior English Student, and Outstanding Senior Spanish Student.
Her extra-curricular activities included Concert Band (4 years), Pep Band (4 years), Marching Band (3 years), Jazz Band (1 year), Choir (2 years), and School Play (4 years).
Her hobbies and interests include playing music, listening to music, music history, modern history from the 1950s to present, record collecting, acting, singing, reading, writing.
