Pulaski County Police received a report of the robbery at 1:22 a.m. Thursday (May 9). The gas station attendant reported she was confronted by a male subject wearing a ski mask and all black clothing. The male was observed to be in possession of a black semi-automatic firearm. The robber made demands for money out of the register and gas station attendant cooperated. The suspect was given the money from the register and fled the gas station.
Law enforcement units from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office and Winamac Police Department responded to the gas station. Deputy Branson Eber discovered additional information and was able to quickly identify the suspect as Sommers who was found to have an address in the 200 block of West 12th Street, Winamac.
Sommers was located at the residence and taken into custody. A search warrant was obtained for the residence in reference to this investigation. Deputies located items related to the armed robbery as well as controlled substances and paraphernalia while serving the search warrant.
Sommers was transported to the Pulaski County Jail where his is being held on the charges of armed robbery, Level 5 Felony, intimidation, Level 6 Felony, possession of a syringe, Level 6 Felony, possession of paraphernalia, Class A Misdemeanor, and possession of marijuana, a Class B Misdemeanor.
