The future of the 19th Century courthouse, which is in need of serious updates to meet 21st Century needs, has been a topic of much debate among county officials and citizens the past year.
Zeiger said Indiana Landmarks is contributing some of its own resources to discussions and plans for the historic building's future. He said to lose the landmark would be a "tragedy," and his organization's goal is to facilitate ways to preserve it for meaningful use.
Indiana Landmarks is now working with the county commissioners and the architects hired by the county, as well as reviewing previous studies and proposals to map the best way forward, practically and economically.
