Mary Ortman of Winamac is among a growing number of county seamstresses who have been busy the past week making masks for use at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, the county’s nursing homes and other medical facilities. |
The local health department, along with the Pulaski County Preparedness Coalition met Tuesday via conference call to assess local needs in preparation of the pandemic which is now sweeping the U.S.
“As you can imagine, our hospital, long-term care facilities and first responders are all getting low on masks,” Hansen said. “If anyone has any available masks that could be given to us at this time, it would be great appreciated and could save a life.”
Hansen said donors will be given a receipt for their masks, as the health department may be able to reimburse them in the future. “However, if you have any masks and would like to donate them to the cause, we would be so very grateful,” she added.
Those who can donate masks should email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., or call the Pulaski County Health Department at 574 946-6080. A time will be set up to pick up the masks.
