Annabelle L. Messer

January 24, 1932 to April 8, 2017

FRANCESVILLE - Annabelle L. Messer, 85, of Francesville, passed away at 7:11 a.m., Saturday, April 8, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac.

She was born Jan. 24, 1932 in Francesville, to the late Joseph and Lena Tyler Yaggie. 
On Oct. 22, 1958, she married Carroll J. Messer in Francesville. He died Dec. 31, 2014.

Mrs. Messer lived most of her life in Francesville. She graduated from Francesville High School in 1950. She worked at the Von Tobel Lumber Center in Francesville for eight years. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church, Francesville.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Francesville; and one hour prior to services at the church Wednesday. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 12, at the Apostolic Christian Church, Francesville, with the ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be at Roseland Cemetery, Francesville.

Memorial donations may be given to Parkview Haven Retirement Home. 

Jerry Beiswanger

November 9, 1941 to March 30, 2017

WHEATFIELD - Jerry Beiswanger, 75, of Medaryville passed away Thursday, March 30, at his home with his loving family around him.

On Nov. 9, 1941, in Francesville, he was born to the late Lawrence and Veleeta Stiller Beiswanger. He married Sandra Schultz on Sept. 26, 1964, in Medaryville. She survives.

He is survived by daughters: Stephanie (Gary) Culp and Cathy (Bob) Elston; five grandchildren: Carlie, Nick, and Kirstin Elston, and Jordan and Katie Culp; and one great-granddaughter: Ava May Garlach; siblings: Bonnie (Lester) Koebcke, Judy (Don) Tanner and Connie Beiswanger.

Mr. Beiswanger was a lifetime area resident who graduated from Medaryville High School. He worked for Ford Motor Stamping in East Chicago. He loved collecting old lanterns, hanging out in his garage to tinker around, and reading and completing puzzles. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren very much.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 12 noon until 3 p.m. (EST, Monday, April 3, at the Medaryville Christian Church. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. (EST), at the church with Pastor Don Nedza officiating. Per Mr. Beiswanger's wishes, cremation will follow and interment at the Roseland Cemetery will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and the Medaryville Christian Church.

Floyd F. Marcum

January 2, 1950 to April 4, 2017

WHEATFIELD - Floyd F. Marcum, 67, of Medaryville, passed away Tuesday, April 4, with his loving family around him.

He was born Jan. 2, 1950 to the late Golden and Gertrude Mitchel Marcum in Williamson, W. Va. He married Rita Cochran on Nov. 11, 1968 in Goodman, W. Va. She survives.

He is also survived by daughters: Lori (Ron) McIlvain, Jennifer (Ron) Barlow, and Lisa (Andy) Coldiron; nine grandchildren: Quinton (Alyssa) McIlvain, Wyatt McIlvain, Griffin McIlvain, Shelby McIlvain, Sidney McIlvain, Trace McIlvain, Ariel Barlow, Adriana Barlow, and Cooper Coldiron; sisters: Patty (David) Chafin, Pam Dixon, Edie McCoy, and Rebecca (Larry) Johnson; brothers: Kenneth (Kim) Marcum, David (Vickie) Marcum, and John (Melissa) Marcum.

Mr. Marcum worked for LTV – ArcelorMittal Steel and was a member of Local 1011. He loved his family and friends, and hunting and fishing.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. (EST), Friday, April 7, at Boersma Funeral Home, Wheatfield. The funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. (EST), Saturday, April 8, at White Post Cemetery.

Douglas F. Fox

February 25, 1953 to March 24, 2017

ROYAL CENTER - Douglas F. Fox, 64, of Royal Center, passed away at 12:55 p.m., Friday, March 24, at Woodbridge Health Campus, Logansport.

Born Feb. 25, 1953 in Logansport, he was the son of the late William and Dorothy Ringen Fox. On Sept. 20, 1986, he married Nancy Ann Busch. She preceded him in death on Sept. 13, 2013.

Survivors include his children, Erica S. Field (Mark) of Kewanna, Matthew D. Fox of Royal Center, Katy R. Fox (Cole Callaway) of Brookston and Ross W. Fox of Royal Center; grandchildren, Jadyn, Ali and McKenna Field of Kewanna; brothers, Ray Fox (Robin) of Brownsburg, Rich Fox (Marcia) of Edwardsburg, Mich. and Ron Fox (Laura) of Star City; and sister, Kay Allen (Don) of Francesville.

Mr. Fox graduated from West Central High School in 1971 and Purdue University in 1975 with a bachelor's degree in agricultural systems management. He was a farmer who loved working with livestock and raising row crops. He worked in sales at Nichols Tillage Tools for over 30 years. He was an avid Purdue fan and enjoyed watching sports and being outdoors. He especially loved spending time with his “little” girls.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 28 at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel. A mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 29, at All Saints Catholic Church with Father Dominic Petan officiating. Burial will be at St. James Salem Cemetery, Francesville.

John S. Meiser

November 9, 1924 to April 4, 2017

GREENFIELD – John S. Meiser, 92, of New Palestine, passed away Tuesday, April 4, at Hancock Regional Hospital, Greenfield.

Born Nov. 9, 1924 in Winamac, he was the son of the late John E. and Ardell Zehner Meiser. He graduated from Winamac High School in 1942. He married Betty Mae Rode on June 4, 1976, at Zion Lutheran Church, New Palestine. She survives.

Also surviving are children, Vicki (Joe) Darnell of Dryfork, VA, Kristi (Larry) Jonas of Cumberland, IN, Greg (Terri) Meiser of Landrum, SC, Marc (Susan) Meiser of Cincinnati, OH, Patti (Rob) Keaton of Stokesdale, NC, Terri (Kevin) Willard of Knightstown, and Sherri (Jim) Tucker of Rushville; step-children, Noble (Debbie) Mitchell of New Palestine, and Patricia Sue Boyd of Greenwood; 21 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great great-granddaughter.

Preceding him in death were three sisters and two grandchildren, Bradley Toll and Aaron Willard.

Mr. Meiser served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving multiple medals, including the Bronze Star and the World War II Victory Medal. After returning from the service in 1946, he farmed. He then worked at the Indianapolis Post Office as a mail clerk for 26 years before retiring. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and American Legion Post #182, both in New Palestine.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 7, at Zion Lutheran Church, New Palestine. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 8, also at the church, with calling one hour prior to the service. Pastor Jason Taylor will officiate. Burial with full military rites will follow at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Erlewein Mortuary, Greenfield.

Mary Lou Coglianese

September 2, 1937 to March 24, 2017

NEW CARLISLE - Mary Lou Coglianese, 79, of South Bend, passed away Friday March 24, at Hospice House, South Bend.

She was born Sept. 2, 1937, in Winamac, the daughter of Herman and Dorothy Freeman Seidel. On June 15, 1957, she married Richard "Dick" Coglianese. He survives.

Along with her husband of 59 years, she is survived by her daughter, Cynthia A. (Mick) McCaffrey of Tiburon, CA; her son, Richard (Mary) Coglianese of Houston, TX; and one granddaughter, Felicia Coglianese of Houston.

Mrs. Coglianese worked as a secretary at IBM in South Bend and was a paraprofessional in high school education in Omaha, Neb. for six years. She had many hobbies and interests including reading, arts and crafts, crocheting, needlepoint and sewing. She was an avid cook and enjoyed spending time in the kitchen perfecting her cooking and baking skills. She enjoyed celebrating holidays and prepared spectacular feasts for her family, and as a master at arts and crafts made many of her own holiday decorations. She also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, gardening, spending time online interacting with family and friends, and was a fan of the Food Network. She loved to travel, whether she was on a road trip to a winery in Michigan or on an adventure to her favorite destinations, Italy, France, and Germany. She spent many hours volunteering for the Telephone Pioneers of America in Dallas, TX. She loved following college and professional football, especially Notre Dame, Michigan State University, the Chicago Bears, and the San Francisco 49ers. She was devoted to her many pets over the years and loved animals of all kinds.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Thursday March 30, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert St., New Carlisle, where friends may visit for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in St. John Kanty Catholic Cemetery, Rolling Prairie.
