WINAMAC - Ralph V. Kiser, 74, of Star City, passed away at 11:14 p.m., Sunday, April 8, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born June 17, 1943 in Wolcott, to the late Burley and Marie Grafton Kiser. He was a 1962 graduate of Star City High School. On May 11, 1963, he was married to Barbara Selle at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Kewanna, by Father Matthew Drennan. She survives.

Mr. Kiser worked at Wilson Foods in Logansport, for 26 years and was the former secretary/treasurer of the UFCW. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Winamac and the Star City Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and mushroom hunting as well as coaching his son's little league team and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He was an avid Notre Dame and Chicago Cubs fan. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, neighbor, and friend. He battled and beat cancer numerous times beginning in 1992 and was an inspiration to all. He fought hard for his family; his love and determination never went unnoticed by those who knew him.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 12, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. A scriptural wake service will be at 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m., Friday, April 13, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Winamac, with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery, Winamac.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Star City Volunteer Fire Department or The Children's TherAplay Foundation, Inc.

Adam J. Gutwein
September 3, 1928 to March 31, 2018

FRANCESVILLE - Adam Jacob "Junior" Gutwein, 89, of Medaryville, passed away at 2:45 a.m., Saturday, March 31, at White Oak Health Campus, Monticello.
He was born Sept. 3, 1928 in Francesville, to the late Adam and Lydia Albrecht Gutwein. He was a 1946 graduate of Francesville High School, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On Nov. 26, 1950, he married Arlene June Smith. She passed away March 21, 2013.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 5, at First Baptist Church of Francesville. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, April 6, at the church with Pastor Dennis Gutwein and Roger Cryan officiating. Burial will be at Roseland Cemetery, Francesville. The American Legion will conduct military graveside services.
Memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Fund or the First Baptist Church Youth Fund.

MEDARYVILLE - Janice L. Kain, 70, of Medaryville, passed away at 6:40 p.m., Friday, March 30, at Pulaski Health Care Center, Winamac.
She was born July 15, 1947 in Rensselaer, to the late Bert and Eva Mae Begley Williams. She was a graduate of Medaryville High School. On May 28, 1965, she married Thomas Kain in Medaryville. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Kain was the former owner of Mott's Liquor in Medaryville. She loved cats, doing crafts and caring for her indoor plants. She also enjoyed cutting and styling hair for others. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. The family wishes to thank the staff of Pulaski Health Care Center for their loving care of Janice.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 4, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Medaryville. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 5, at the funeral home with Rev. Thomas Dewlen officiating. Burial will be at White Post Cemetery, Medaryville.

Mary L. Hooker
March 11, 1925 to March 26, 2018
FRANCESVILLE - Mary L. Hooker, 93, of Francesville, passed away at 5:45 a.m., Monday, March 26, at her residence.
She was born March 11, 1925 in Monon, to the late Fred and Ruth Roush Robinson. On Oct. 17, 1943 she married Harold W. Hooker. He survives.

Mrs. Hooker was a member of the First Christian Church, Francesville. She enjoyed playing cards and cooking. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 31, at the Francesville First Christian Church. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m., at the church. Burial will be at Roseland Cemetery, Francesville.

Mary M. Frank
November 2, 1942 to January 28, 2018
WINAMAC - Mary M. Frank died Jan. 28, at St. Francis Hospital, Indianapolis.
She was born Nov. 2, 1942 in Winamac, to Elizabeth Frank.
She is survived by her cousins and best friend, Katherine Scott.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and Melvin Frank.
Ms. Frank graduated from Winamac High School, attended Hanover College and graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor's degree in physical therapy. She earned a master's degree from Western Kentucky. She worked as a physical therapist in Roanoke, Va. and Bowling Green, Ky., retiring from St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Private burial will be at Winamac Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders or any other organization providing direct healthcare.

Hazel L. Myers Henry
July 8, 1919 to March 25, 2018
WINAMAC - Hazel Lucille Henry, 98, passed away Sunday, March 25.
She was born July 8, 1919 in Leipsic, OH to the late Frank and Alice West Myers. She was raised in Grass Creek, where she lived until she married the late Eugene M. Henry on Aug. 6, 1938. They were married 71 years.

Five Great-Grandchildren: Michael, Vanessa, Matthew, Abby and Marin
She was preceded in death by:
Nicholas Henry, Great Grandson
Sisters: Mary Leonard, Josephine Diveley and Eileen Myers
Brother: Carl Myers
Mrs. Henry and her husband lived in Peru, and then Kokomo, before moving to Port St. Lucie, FL in 1978. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon (since 1956) and had been active in the women's group. During the couple's Florida years, they enjoyed their fellowship at Indian River Presbyterian Church. Her family will miss her warm smiles and gentle laughter.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 7, at McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac with Rev. Ruby Kleymann officiating. Mrs. Henry will be buried next to her husband following services.
Memorial donations may be made to the music department at the Indian River Presbyterian Church.

WINAMAC - Jack L. Day, 86, of Winamac, died Tuesday, March 20.
He was born Oct. 1, 1931 in South Bend, to the late Perry and Mamie Cornelius Day. He married Sandra Jean Barnard Day. She died June 14, 2000.

Mr. Day served for 15 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was the former commander of the VFW in South Bend. He was a former employee of Monon Trailer Company in Monon, and Walmart in Rensselaer. He enjoyed writing cook books and cheering for Notre Dame sports. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren Brandon Day and Sierra Burch.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m., Friday, March 30, at Bedford Cemetery, Monon. The American Legion will conduct military graveside services.
