Shurla A. Rans

September 20, 1917 to March 14, 2018

WINAMAC - Shurla A. Rans, 100, of Winamac, passed away Wednesday, March 14, at home. 

She was born Sept. 20, 1917 in Deland, IL to the late Joseph B. and Margaret Kingsborough Bealor. The family moved to Indiana when she was four. She graduated from Kingsbury High School in 1935. On May 16, 1954, she married the late Raymond J. Rans. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by: 
Mary A. Rans, Winamac, Daughter 
Lois R. (Gary) Denton, Clayton, Daughter 
4 Grandchildren: Heidi (Paul) Felty, Adam Denton, Nicholas (Kalah) Denton and Dustin Brown 
2 Great Grandchildren: Gabriel and Joselyn 
Many Nieces and Nephews

Preceded in death by: 
Gary L. Rans, Son 
3 Sisters: Louise, Esther and Alma 
7 Brothers: Willard, Foster, Harold, Ray, Bob, Wayne and Kenneth

Mrs. Rans was a member of Winamac First Christian Church and the Christian Women's Fellowship. She was also a member of Winamac Eagle's Auxiliary #2580, LaPorte, Rose Rebekah Lodge #408 and Winamac Sophronia Rebekah Lodge #122, Winamac VFW Ladies Auxiliary #1728 and the Monroe Modern Homemakers Home-Ec Club. She was a hard-working woman and proud homemaker. Over the years, she had worked at Kingsbury Ordinance Plant, Smolers Bros., Rice Corp. and TV Cable. She was a talented cook and seamstress. She enjoyed writing letters to family and gathering for lunch with family, something she continued to do until a few months ago. She loved her entire family dearly and will be sadly missed.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 16, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 17, at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Seger officiating. Burial will be at Winamac Cemetery, Winamac.

Memorial donations may be made to the Winamac First Christian Church.
