Smith Funeral Home, Knox, is handling arrangements. Nancy L. OsbyOctober 13, 1936 to December 29, 2010 WINAMAC - Nancy L. Osby, 74, of 402 S. Monticello St., Winamac (formerly of Valparaiso), died at 11:50 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 29 at her residence. She was born Oct. 13, 1936, in Mascoutah, IL, to the late Donald and Mary Stout Sloan. She married Thomas Osby on May 5, 1956 in Crown Point. He survives.

Preceded in death by: Mrs. Osby was a 1954 graduate of Calumet High School. She enjoyed cooking and reading. No services will be held. Daniel F. GermannAugust 3, 1920 to December 29, 2010 FRANCESVILLE - Daniel Frederick Germann, 90, of 136 Casa Marina Place, Sanford, FL (formerly of San Pierre), died at 11:55 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 29, at his residence. He was born Aug. 3, 1920, in LaCrosse, to the late Rudolph and Aline Heiniger Germann. He married Irma Lois Gutwein on Dec. 9, 1944 in Valparaiso. She survives.
Preceded in death by: Mr. Germann was a member of the Bethel Bible Church in Winamac where he had served as an Elder and missions board member. He was a member of the Gideons. He was a former school board member of the North Judson-San Pierre School Corporation and a former board member of the San Pierre State Bank and Starke County Hospital. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Francesville. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday (Jan. 8), at Bethel Bible Church, Winamac, with Rev. Thomas Hopewell officiating. A private burial will be in Roseland Cemetery, Francesville. Memorial donations may be given to the Bethel Bible Church Missions Fund. Agnes G. NicolasJanuary 28, 1914 to December 29, 2010 WINAMAC - Agnes G. Nicolas, 96, 918 N. Monticello St., Winamac, died at 12:10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Hickory Creek, Winamac. She was born Jan. 28, 1914 in Winamac, daughter of the late Henry and Mary Grindle Braun. She married Joseph J. Nicolas Sr. on April 14, 1936 in Winamac. He died Nov. 17, 1981.

She was preceded in death by: Mrs. Nicolas was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Ladies of Charity and Christian Mothers in Winamac. She was a frequent volunteer at the Good Samariton Store in Winamac. She was active in the Pulaski County Farm Bureau. She sold Stanley Home Products for 25 years. She was lovingly known as the "noodle lady." Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. A rosary service will begin at 7 p.m., at the funeral home; immediately followed by a Christian Mother’s service and a scritural wake service. The funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday (Jan. 3), at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Winamac. The officiating clergy will be Rev. Martin Sandhage. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Winamac. Memorial donations may be given to the charity of the donor's choice. Alexandra L. GibsonJune 25 1991 to December 27, 2010 WINAMAC - Alexandra Lillian Marie "Ali" Gibson, 19, of 3470 S. US 35, Star City, died at 4:11 p.m., Monday, Dec. 27, at Memorial Hospital, Logansport. She was born June 25, 1991, in Rensselaer, to Darvin and Lori L. Planck Gibson .
Preceded in death by: Miss Gibson was a lifelong resident of Pulaski County. She graduated from Winamac Community High School on May 27, 2010. While in high school Ali was a cheerleader, a member of SADD, Sunshine Sociey, and Key Club. She was a student at Ivy Tech, Lafayette. She was an employee of Victoria Secrets in the Tippecanoe Mall, Lafayette, and was a former employee of Pulaski Health Care Center, Winamac, and was a former lifeguard at Indiana Beach where she saved a young boy on her first day of work this year. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m., Saturday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will be at 1p.m., Sunday (Jan. 2), at the funeral home with Rev. Matt Landry officiating. Burial will be in McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac. Memorial donations may be given to a scholarship fund being established in Ali's memory. Neil ErbMarch 14, 1919 to December 26, 2010 FRANCESVILLE - Neil V. Erb, 91, of 6245 S 1400 W, Francesville, passed away at 10:15 p.m. (CST), Sunday, Dec. 26, in George Ade Memorial Health Care Center, Brook. He was born March 14, 1919, in Francesville, the son of the late Herman and Bertha Honnegar Erb. His first marriage was to Ruth Long. In 1973 he married Marceline Sanders Burget. She preceeded him in death in March 2010.
He was preceded in death by: Mr. Erb lived in Pulaski County most of his life. He grew up in White Post Township (across from where West Central Schools are now located) and attended school in Medaryville. He moved to Francesville in 1935, where he worked at the local milling company as a feed maker and truck driver. Later he worked as a filling station operator. When the military draft began, he was 21 and signed up. He was called to serve in the armed forces in October 1941 and he spent most of the next 4-1/2 years in the service in the U.S and in the European Theater until World War II was over May 5, 1945. He recieved the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart medals. In 1946, Mr. Erb began farming and worked for Manion Construction, building several houses and repairing quite a few. He took up the carpenter trade on his own along with farming until he retired in 1984. He built his present home south of Francesville in 1970. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Francesville. He was a Life Member of the American Legion, Jasper County 40&8 Voiture and Life Member of the VFW. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel-Francesville and one hour prior to services on Friday at the Church. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Friday (Dec. 31), at First Christian Church, Francesville, with Pastor James Ketchen officiating. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery, Francesville. The American Legion will conduct military graveside services. Memorial donations may be given to Francesville Christian Church, or the American Legion. Merle H. TiedeJune 4, 1915 to December 17, 2010 MARTINSVILLE - Merle H. Tiede, 95, Greenfield, formerly of Indianapolis and Martinsville, died Friday, Dec. 17, at his residence. He was born June 4, 1915, in Francesville, to the late William C. and Ruth Burson Tiede. He married Genevieve M. Guentert on Dec. 28, 1945. She preceded him in death on April 21, 2006.
He was preceded in death son, Jon Christopher Tiede; sisters, Jean Schafer, Madge Dewees, Betty Barnhart and Marquriette "Sis" Bridges Hass; and brothers, Ronald, Donald, Robert, Claude, Fred, Billy and Lewis Tiede. Mr. Tiede was employed as a deputy director for the Federal Housing Administraton for 30 years, and also worked for KMS Mortgage & Investment Company, both in Indianapolis. He was a U.S. Army veteran and member of the St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Martinsville, and the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. on Monday (Dec. 20) at Neal & Summers Funeral & Cremation Center, Martinsville.
