Carl T. Doty

February 8, 1934 to March 12, 2023

WINAMAC - Carl Thomas Doty, 89, of Winamac, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 12,at home.

He was born Feb. 8, 1934 to the late James and Grace [Widner] Doty. He graduated from Monterey High School. He then served in the U.S Army..On July 1, 1961, he married Frances Ellen May Smith, whom he met at a donkey basketball game. She passed away Oct. 7, 2019. They attended the Winamac Church of the Nazarene.

Mr. Doty was a lifelong farmer. His passion for agriculture led him to raise livestock and develop a successful career in field tile and drainage. He was a good neighbor and a friend to many. He was witty and had a unique sense of humor. Most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 14, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 15, at the funeral home with Pastor Martin Burns officiating. Burial will be at Reed Cemetery in Winamac. The American Legion and VFW will conduct military graveside services.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Gentiva Hospice.
