Darl Daily

September 3, 1928 to June 6, 2012

ROYAL CENTER - Darl C. Daily, 83 of Kewanna, passed away at 1:55 p.m., Wednesday, June 6, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

Born Sept. 3, 1928 in Star City, he was the son of the late Ernest and Alta Daily. He was married Sept. 3, 1950 to Merna Willoughby. She survives.

Also surviving are children, Nancy Daily O’Connor (Ed) of Needham, Alan Daily (Darlene) of Star City and Robert Daily (Kate) of Kewanna; and brother-in-law, William Wagner of Star City. He is also survived by grandchildren, April, Bevin and Tim O’Connor, Shane (Michelle), Brandon (Andrea), Brock (Lindsay) and Shaw (Missy) Haselby, Natalie Daily Federer, Sarah and Jess Daily, Tasha (Jeff) Mitchell, Payton, Maggie and Dalton Daily; and great grandchildren, Alyssa, Hannah and Kiersten Haselby, Adam and Jace Haselby, Kale and Tanner Federer, Avery and Braylin Haselby and Brogan O’Connor; and nieces and nephews, William and Sue Peppers, Jim and Paula Daily, Diane and Jason Brantley, Dick and Marilyn Wagner and Jean and Bill King.

He was also preceded in death by brother, Neil Daily and his wife Sherry Daily; sister, Geneva Wagner, daughter, Linda Haselby and her husband, Gary Haselby; and nephew, Thomas Wagner.

Mr. Daily farmed all of his life with his family. He was truly happiest when driving a semi-truck or behind the wheel of a tractor. He enjoyed attending his son’s tractor-pulling events and didn’t miss a pull. He was a big supporter of his grandchildren’s sporting events.

He was a member of the Star City United Methodist Church where he served as the congregation song leader for more than 40 years. He also formerly served two terms on the Eastern Pulaski School Board from 1976-1984.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m., Friday, at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday (June 9), at the funeral home with pastors Kevin Drane and Kevin Marsh officiating. Burial will be in Star City West Cemetery.
