Lucille Davis

April 20, 1922 to January 3, 2017

WINAMAC - Lucille Davis, 94, of Winamac passed away at 11:50 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Parkview Haven Retirement Home, Francesville.

She was born April 20, 1922 in Breathitt County, Ky. to the late John Scott and Mary Spencer Turner. On June 1, 1941, she married Emory Davis in North Judson. He passed away on June 4, 2003.

Survivors include:

Devon (Joann) Davis, Michigan, Son 
Dewain (Laurie) Davis, Winamac, Son 
12 Grandchildren: Kenneth Jr., Gary, Terry, Carrie, Michael, Kathy, Kim, Denise, Wendy, Amber, Brittany and Brandon 
Many Great Grandchildren

Mrs. Davis faithfully loved and served her Lord, Jesus Christ and her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 6, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac; and one hour prior to the services at the church Saturday. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 7, at Winamac Church of the Nazarene, Winamac with Rev. Thomas Dewlen officiating. Burial will be at McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Patricia J. Hunt

March 1, 1931 to December 22, 2016

MONTICELLO - Patricia "Pat" June Hunt, 85, Star City, passed away at 8:50 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 22, at her home, surrounded by her family. She had been in failing health for the last several months.

She was born March 1, 1931, in Buffalo, to the late David and Nina (Imler) Nordyke. On March 4, 1951, at the White Methodist Church in Buffalo, she married Robert "Bob" Hunt; he survives. They were married 65 years.

Also surviving are son, Mikeal (Carol) Hunt, Wilmington, Del.; daughter, Susan Hunt, Kokomo; grandchildren, Jennifer Hineline, Fairmont, Pa., Johnathan Porter, Corbin, Ky., Christopher Porter, Kissimmee, Fla., Rebekah Aloe, Avoca, Pa., and Christina Butler, Wilmington, Del.; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The Star City home where Mrs. Hunt and her husband lived, is the same home she grew up in. She was very proud that the farm has been in the family for over 100 years. She was raised by her grandmother, having lost her mother at only 10 days old. She was one of 12 children. She had a deep faith in the Lord, reading her scripture daily.She loved spending time in her flower garden. Family was very important to her, and she loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, at the Miller-Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello. A celebration of life service will follow at 1 p.m., at the funeral home with Rev. Jeff Messer of the Zion Bethel Church of Monticello officiating. Burial will follow at the Buffalo Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Zion Bethel Church of Monticello. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Edwin J. Reed Jr.

July 15, 1973 to December 22, 2016

RENSSELAER - Edwin James Reed, Jr., 43, of Remington, passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, at his home.

He was born in Rensselaer on July 15, 1973. He attended school at North White and West Central. He played football and ran track in high school. On March 30, 2016, in Medaryville, he married Mary R. Edwards. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother Edna Lou Ann Cooper and step-father Albert Cooper of Mt. Ayr; two daughters, Heaven’Lee Beckner of Russell Springs, Ky. and Rebecca Becher of Florida; one son, Daniel Minix of Remington; one granddaughter, Ella Becher of Florida; one brother, Bryan D. Carter; one sister, Donna “Missy” Marie (Luttrell) Stiltz; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Reed enjoyed watching NASCAR, dancing, singing, drawing, and working on cars. He was a loving husband, son, and uncle. He will be remembered for having a very warm heart.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. (CT), Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. (CT), Thursday, Dec. 29, at the funeral home with Rev. Brent Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Koster Cemetery, Francesville.

Ocie Rowe

March 5, 1929 to December 30, 2016

NORTH JUDSON - Ocie Rowe, 87, of Winamac passed away at 7:57 a.m., Friday, Dec. 30, at Porter Regional Hospital, Valparaiso.

He was born to the late John and Myrtle (Montgomery) Rowe, March 5, 1929 in Tip Top, Magoffin County, Ky. He married Shirley Ivadel Gibbs on Feb. 7, 1953 in Baltimore, Md.

He is survived by three brothers, Floyd Carson Rowe of Winamac, Hillard James Minix of North Judson and Bobby Ray Minix of North Judson; one sister, Hattie Campbell of North Judson; four step-children, H.L. (Buddy), Jerrold, R.L. (Larry) Wohlfarth and Sharon Parsons. He has a tremendous amount of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Shirley of 56 years; four sisters, Opal Mann, Glenna Fay Maupin, Dixie Whitaker and Phyllis Ann Gross.

Mr. Rowe enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp, September 1944, at an early age of 15. He spent his 16th birthday in China fighting in World War II. He reenlisted and fought in the Korean War and two tours in the Vietnam War as a tank operator. In October 1967, he retired from the Marine Corp with 22 years of service and the rank of Master Sergeant E-8. He was awarded numerous medals, honors and was a recipient of three Purple Hearts. He lived in various places, including Maryland, Virginia, Arizona, California and Hawaii, while traveling extensively in his military service.

After his retirement from the military, Mr. Rowe lived mainly in Arizona, Salyersville, Ky. and spent his last four years residing with his brother, Carson, in North Judson. He was a Shriner, member of the Masonaic Lodge and a member of the American Legion. He was a Christian, saved and baptized, and a member of the Denham Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed Bluegrass/Country music, being with family and friends and loved to attend church and church activities. He loved his hats and his watches. He was proud of his country and what he fought for. One of the things he never left home without was his Marine Corp hat. That was the one thing that he requested be left with him at the hospital during his stays, was his hat. Two words would always bring him to tears, Semper Fi.

A gathering of family and friends will be  9 a.m. (CT), Sunday, Jan. 8, at the Denham Freewill Baptist Church, followed by an 11 a.m. (CT) memorial service. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, North Judson, with military graveside services conducted by American Legion Post 92.

Jerry L. Wright

September 22, 1960 to December 29, 2016

NORTH JUDSON - Jerry Lee Wright, 56, of Winamac passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 29, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac.

He was born Sept. 22, 1960. He married Susan (Redlin) Wright, Sept. 29, 1979 in Hamlet.

He is survived by son, Matt Wright, daughter, Amy (Sloane) Peters and grandson Dylan Peters. He is also survived by three sisters, Edith Mary Howard, Carol Jean Grott and Linda Sue Fort; and one brother James Leonard Wright.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Mr. Wright's life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. (CT), Saturday, Jan. 7, at the home of Daniel Minix, 6658 S 100 E, North Judson, IN.

Dorothy Agnew Arbuckle

January 13,1919 to December 31, 2016

RENSSELAER - Dorothy Lois (Agnew) Arbuckle, 97, of Rensselaer, passed away Saturday, Dec. 31, at George Ade Memorial Health Care Center.

She was born in Winamac on Jan. 13, 1919, the daughter of the late Lon B. and Eva Margaret (Williamson) Agnew. She attended school at Hanging Grove School, Rensselaer. On Aug. 24, 1935, in Rensselaer, she married Orion Thomas Arbuckle. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1995.

She is survived by one son, Russell Harvey Arbuckle and daughter-in-law Arlene Marie Arbuckle of Bradley, IL; four granddaughters: Lisa Peco of Tampa, FL, Lana Arbuckle of Chicago, Angela Good of North Fort Myers, FL, and Amy (John) Geary of Kankakee, IL; six great-grandchildren: Brandon (Nichol) and Justin Peco, Torin, Jack, and Hannah Geary, and Chloe Good; three great-great grandchildren: Aubrey, Dylan and Avery Peco; and four nieces: Martha Agnew Klauer of Hebron, Marjory (Mike) Agnew Elden of Galesburg, IL, and Dorothy Rectinbaugh and Joanne Pierce of Creston, IA.

She was preceded in death: by one sister, Mildred (John) Craft; four brothers: James “Ben” (Hulda) Agnew, William Bruce Agnew, Joseph Brant (Pauline) Agnew, and Robert Charles (Phyllis) Agnew; and two nieces, Mary Edith Agnew Wilkerson and Margaret Agnew.

Mrs. Arbuckle helped her husband farm. She also had worked at Schumacher Electric Corp. in Rensselaer for 18 years. She was a very compassionate person who enjoyed helping others.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017 from 12 noon (CST) until time of funeral at 2 p.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Rev. Marcia Smith-Wood officiating. Interment will follow at Milroy Cemetery.

Deborah Hoh

July 5, 1948 to December 29, 2016

WINAMAC - Deborah Sue Hoh, 68, of Winamac  passed away at 4:20 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 29, at her residence.

She was born July 5, 1948 in Zanesville, OH to the late Edwin A. and Virginia Hardman Wine. She married Cletis Wayne Hoh on Aug. 7, 1982 in Jasper County. He survives.

She is also survived by her daughters, Shannon and Faith; her granddaughter, Olivia; her sister, Donna; her brothers, David and Danny; as well as several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her nephew, Shawn.

Mrs. Hoh had worked as head of accounting at a large insurance firm in Chicago for nearly 30 years. She enjoyed making miniatures out of clay, playing on her Kindle and crocheting. She loved spending time with her friends. She will be sadly missed.

No services will be held.
