Winamac Community HS names 2018 top seniors

WINAMAC - Valedictorian Miranda Hettinger and Salutatorian Lera Good will stand at the head the Class of 2018 at commencement ceremonies later this month at Winamac Community High School.

Miranda is the daughter of Paul and Michelle Hettinger, and Lera is the daughter of Jeff and Shirley Good, all of Winamac.

 

Graduation will be at 7 p.m., Friday, May 25, at the WCHS gymnasium.

Miranda will attend St. Mary's College to study computing and mathemtics. Her high school activities have included Key Club, Athletic Leadership Council, National Honor Society, MWC/HNAC Math Contest Team, and softball.

Her awards and honors include 2015 MWC Softball Player of the Year; 2016, 2017 HNAC Softball Player of the Year; 2015-16-17 Softball MVP; 2016 Softball Third Team All-State; 2017 Softball First Team All-State; 2015-16-17 Softball All-Conference Player; 2015-16-17 Softball All-Loganland Player; Four years Distinguished Honor Roll; Second place geometry MWC Math Contest; Fifth place Algebra I MWC Math Contest.

 

Lera will attend Valparaiso University to major in creative writing.

Her high school activities included Spanish Quizbowl, Writing Contest, and Science Olympiad. She also has worked on Pulaski County Public Library promotional videos.

Her awards and honors include: Academic Honors, four years of Spanish Quizbowl, and fourth place in the conference Writing Contest - short story, senior division.
