WINAMAC - Alan Huggler will return to the helm as varsity basketball coach at Winamac Community High School, following approval by the Eastern Pulaski Community School Board in a special session Monday evening (Nov. 6).

Huggler, 52, is a math teacher at the high school. He coached the Warriors for four seasons, from 2003-07. He was selected from among nine candidates who applied for the coaching position.

Huggler succeeds Kyle Johnson as head coach. Johnson, who coached Winamac for seven seasons, was removed from his coaching duties by the school board last month. Johnson remains as a teacher at the school.

Huggler has been coaching the eighth-grade boys basketball program at the Winamac middle school and was to be the junior varsity coach this season.

Winamac will open the basketball season Tuesday, Nov. 21, hosting Twin Lakes.
