Alice M. Mooi

April 29, 1930 to October 17, 2017

WINAMAC - Alice M. Mooi, 87, of Rochester (formerly of Winamac) passed away at 1:42 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Wynnfield Crossing Senior Living Community, Rochester.

She was born April 29, 1930 to the late Herbert and Lillian Brook Asmus. On Oct. 19, 1957, she married Henry "Hank" Mooi in LaPorte. He passed away Sept. 9, 2017. 

Survivors include: 
Charles (Kay) Asmus, Brother 
Nancy Asmus, Sister-in-law 
3 Nieces and 3 Nephews 
Several Great Nieces and Great Nephews

Donald Asmus, Brother

Mrs. Mooi graduated from LaPorte High School, received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Ball State University, and spent her life as an educator. She taught in both the LaPorte County Schools as well as the Eastern Pulaski Elementary School. Altogether, she taught for 36 years. She was a member of the Pulaski County Retired Teachers Association and the Indiana Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winamac where she was active with the children's choir and had served as an organist. She enjoyed traveling as well as music, especially playing the piano. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 22, at the First United Methodist Church, Winamac. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m., Sunday, at the church with Pastor Dave Marty officiating. Burial will be at McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery,  Winamac.

Memorial donations may be given to the First United Methodist Church, Winamac.
