Jon E. Kopka

July 18, 1932 to July 21, 2017

FRANCESVILLE - Jon E. Kopka, 85, of Lafayette, passed away Friday, July 21, with his family by his side, at St. Vincent Hospice.

He was born July 18, 1932 in Francesville, to the late John and Frieda Kaupke Kopka. He graduated from Medaryville High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Irene Vogt on May 26, 1957, in Francesville. She survives.

Mr. Kopka was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Lafayette. He was retired from Alcoa where he worked for over 27 years. Upon retirement, he worked at Walmart for 20 years where enjoyed working in the lawn and garden department and helping others. He also enjoyed square dancing and was a member of Hoosier Hoppers Square Dance Club. Jon and Irene especially enjoyed traveling. He loved his family very much and he will be dearly missed. 

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 25, at Immanuel United Church of Christ, Lafayette. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., at the church with Rev. T.J. Jenney officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m., at Roseland Cemetery, Francesville. The American Legion will conduct military graveside services.
