David G. Swartzell

March 12, 1940 to June 17, 2017

WINAMAC - David G. Swartzell 77, of Winamac, died at 6:15 a.m., Saturday, June 17, at his home.

He was born March 12, 1940 in Winamac, to the late Robert and Esther Lavon (Bonnie) Johnson Swartzell. He married Catherine L. Lincoln on April 14, 1962 in Winamac. She died Feb. 20, 2001.

Grandchildren: Doug (Ashley) Metzger, Kim (Waylon) Burke, Stacey (Wyatt) Roth,
Joe (Andrea) Ward, Jason (Kami) Ward, Craig Girton, Josh (Chrissy) Girton, and Boston Snyder.
Great Grandchildren: Destini Gould, Corinne Ward, Emri Metzger, Peyton Burke,
Paxton Burke, Juliet Ward, Colin Roth, Leyli Metzger, Gavin Ward, Brodie Roth, Zane Davis, and Ethyn Voulo.

Mr. Swartzell served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Comstock. He enjoyed fishing and golfing. He also enjoyed caring for and riding his horses and playing cards. He especially enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 20, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m.Wednesday, June 21, at the funeral home with Rev. Ed Clark officiating. Burial will be at Idle Cemetery, Francesville. The VFW and American Legion will conduct military graveside services.

Memorial donations may be given to the Salvation Army.
