Police arrest four in connection with theft ring

Deputies with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office last week assisted with a multi-jurisdictional theft investigation which resulted in four arrests in Pulaski County.

The investigation has led police to believe the subjects are part of a large-scale theft ring that has grown to involve multiple suspects who have committed crimes in Noble, Steuben, Starke and Pulaski counties, along with two counties in Michigan.

The investigation led investigators to a residence in Starke County where two side-by-side UTV’s, eight ATV’s, six trailers, snowmobiles, go-carts, golf carts, motor-cross motorcycles, and mini-bikes were recovered.

Police report that Michael Nicholas Watson, 27, Leesburg, was arrested Jan. 3, in connection with the case and preliminary charged with possession of stolen property. Watson was additionally charged with theft, burglary, and auto theft through Kosciusko County from an investigation by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.

Also arrested were Katie Matthews, 24, Medaryville, for possession of stolen property; Tyson Matthews, 27, Winamac for theft and forgery; and James Matthews, 46, Medaryville, on a Kosciusko County warrant for theft.

Investigators believe additional arrests are expected as the investigation continues.
