Dorothy Agnew Arbuckle

January 13,1919 to December 31, 2016

RENSSELAER - Dorothy Lois (Agnew) Arbuckle, 97, of Rensselaer, passed away Saturday, Dec. 31, at George Ade Memorial Health Care Center.

She was born in Winamac on Jan. 13, 1919, the daughter of the late Lon B. and Eva Margaret (Williamson) Agnew. She attended school at Hanging Grove School, Rensselaer. On Aug. 24, 1935, in Rensselaer, she married Orion Thomas Arbuckle. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1995.

She is survived by one son, Russell Harvey Arbuckle and daughter-in-law Arlene Marie Arbuckle of Bradley, IL; four granddaughters: Lisa Peco of Tampa, FL, Lana Arbuckle of Chicago, Angela Good of North Fort Myers, FL, and Amy (John) Geary of Kankakee, IL; six great-grandchildren: Brandon (Nichol) and Justin Peco, Torin, Jack, and Hannah Geary, and Chloe Good; three great-great grandchildren: Aubrey, Dylan and Avery Peco; and four nieces: Martha Agnew Klauer of Hebron, Marjory (Mike) Agnew Elden of Galesburg, IL, and Dorothy Rectinbaugh and Joanne Pierce of Creston, IA.

She was preceded in death: by one sister, Mildred (John) Craft; four brothers: James “Ben” (Hulda) Agnew, William Bruce Agnew, Joseph Brant (Pauline) Agnew, and Robert Charles (Phyllis) Agnew; and two nieces, Mary Edith Agnew Wilkerson and Margaret Agnew.

Mrs. Arbuckle helped her husband farm. She also had worked at Schumacher Electric Corp. in Rensselaer for 18 years. She was a very compassionate person who enjoyed helping others.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017 from 12 noon (CST) until time of funeral at 2 p.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Rev. Marcia Smith-Wood officiating. Interment will follow at Milroy Cemetery.
