CFPC awards three Youth Grants

Grants totaling over $1,400 were recently awarded to three county youth organizations through the Community Foundation of Pulaski County's annual youth grant opportunity.

Checks were presented to Eastern Pulaski Elementary for VEX Robotics Team supplies; Pulaski County Junior Leaders 4-H Club for Poverty Awareness Day; and West Central Middle School sixth Grade Camp Tecumseh Foundations for Success.

VEX Robotics Team members (l-r) Piper Link, Olivia Link, Karsten Sandberg and leader Kullen Day from EPES receive their grant award from Katie DeGroot of the Community Foundation.

The opportunity to receive grants of up to $500 was offered to youth organizations and programs providing services in Pulaski County. Youth representatives are involved in the grant process, and finalists were required to make presentations to the CFPC Grants Committee.

The youth grants were funded through the Good Oil/BP Youth Philanthropy Fund. Since 2012, eleven youth grants have been awarded for more than $5,200. Persons interested in supporting youth philanthropy may contribute to the nonpermanent fund at any time.

The purpose of the youth grant program is to familiarize local youth with the concept and benefits of philanthropy and increase awareness of its important role in our community.
