CFPC grant awarded to Winamac Volunteer Fire Department

WINAMAC - The Winamac Volunteer Fire Department recently received a $7,500 grant from the Community Grants Fund through the Community Foundation of Pulaski County.

This grant will go to support the purchase of extrication tools.

Chief Bill Weaver announced the winning grant from the Community Foundation for Operation Extrication at the department's annual holiday dinner, noting that such an achievement represents a good quality collaboration with our local community. Department members praised the new project as necessary and are grateful for the Community Foundation’s annual grant program.

“We’ve been waiting to purchase new extrication tools for quite some time now” Weaver said in reaction to the news. "New and improved extrication tools will help us better be prepared to respond to accidents with entrapment.”

The fire department encourages the proper use of seat belts and car seats.

:This will greatly improve your chances of surviving an auto accident," Weaver said. "We hope that you do your part to prevent accidents, but know the fire department will answer the call if needed. Our new tools will arrive in the coming weeks."

The new extrication tools will be on display at WVFD events this year.

"Many thanks to all who continue to support the Winamac Volunteer Fire Deportment and to the Community Foundation," Weaver said.
