Stolen vehicle from Porter County located in Francesville area

A stolen van from Porter County was discovered in Pulaski County Friday morning, following a 911 call from whom police are calling "an alert citizen."

The vehicle was found in southeastern Salem Township, near the White County line, at CRs 900 S and 1200 W.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office 911 Communications Center received a call at 8:30 a.m., Friday (March 27), regarding a suspicious vehicle at CR 900 S. The caller reported a van sitting along the roadway with no one around it and also some tools and chainsaw in the ditch near the vehicle.

Deputy Nick Bowyer was dispatched and ran the license plate on the vehicle and received a response that the vehicle, a green and silver 1997 Mercury van had been reported stolen the day before through the Porter County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Bowyer impounded the vehicle. The vehicle has been turned over to the Porter County Sheriff’s Office for further investigation.
