Thursday, May 16

•The Pulaski County Human Services Board will meet at 10:30 a.m., at 115 W. Pearl St., Winamac.

•The Pulaski County Historical Society will meet at 6 p.m., at the railroad freight depot, Winamac. All interested persons are welcome to attend.

Friday, May 17

Starke/Pulaski Habitat for Humanity will hold a garage sale from 4 to 7 p.m.; and Saturday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at 324 Northwest St., Winamac. New paint, tools, building supplies and much more will be for sale. Proceeds will go to Starke/Pulaski Habitat for Humanity. Building contractors welcome.

Saturday, May 18

•The Bread of Life Food Pantry will be open from 9 to 10:30 a.m., at the Winamac Assembly of God Church, 557 W. 11th St. This food distribution is to help supplement the needs of those within the county who have been impacted economically and/or who have special needs. Food donations will also be accepted at this time. For more information, call 946-4338.

•The Pulaski County Commissioners will meet in regular public session at 6 p.m., at the county courthouse, Winamac.

•Hickory Creek, Winamac, will serve a Senior Lunch at 11 a.m. All community senior citizens are welcome to attend. Call 946-6143 to make reservations or for more information.

•Winamac Community High School will hold its Senior Awards Night at 6:30 p.m., in the socialtorium. Seniors will receive special recognition in the form of academic competition awards, honor roll, scholarship awards and special academic and athletic awards. Representatives from various colleges, local organizations and the school will present these awards. The public is invited to attend.

Monday, June 3

•The Pulaski County Commissioners will meet in regular public session at 6 p.m., at the county courthouse, Winamac.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department Merit Board will meet at 7 p.m., at the Justice Center.

Tuesday, June 4

•The Winamac Music Boosters will meet at 7 p.m., in the high school band room. All parents of middle/high school band and choir students are encouraged to attend.

•The Pulaski County Community Development Commission (Economic Development) will meet at 7 p.m., at the Winamac Municipal Office.

Wednesday, June 5

•Pulaski Memorial Hospital will sponsor a Safe Sitter course on Wednesday-Thursday, June5-6, at the Pulaski County Highway Garage from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Safe Sitter is a medically-accurate, up-to-date babysitting course that teaches young teens (11 and older) life and safety skills. The course is $30 (scholarships available based on need). Be the sitter that all parents and kids want! For additional information or to register, call Anita at (574) 946-2193.

•The Winamac Town Council will meet in regular session at 7 p.m., at the municipal utilities complex at 623 W. 11th St., Winamac.

Tuesday, June 11

Visually Impaired Persons (VIPs), will meet at 1 p.m., at the VonTobel Center, Winamac. For transportation, call 946-6500. For information, call Johanna at 946-6126 or Maurine at 946-3836.

•The Pulaski County Public Library Teen Activity Board will meet at 4 p.m., at the Winamac library. Teens gather to offer suggestions and help to make P.C.P.L. a fun and exciting places for teens. They also brainstorm ideas for upcoming events and programs. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of every month.

•The Pulaski County Drug Free Council will meet at 3:30 p.m., at West Central. Contact the Extension office at 946-3412 for more information.

Thursday , June 13

•The VFW Post No. 1728 directors will meet at 7 p.m., at the VFW Hall, Winamac. The ladies auxiliary will meet at the same time and place.

Wednesday, June 19

•Senior Citizens are invited to attend a “Prime Time” meal at 12 noon, at the Winamac Church of the Nazarene for fellowship with those from all denominations of churches. A free-will offering will be taken. Brief programs will sometimes follow the meals.

•The Pulaski County Public Library in Winamac will offer a Home-School Lesson at 2:30 p.m. For more information please call 946-3432.

Mondays

Genealogy Help is offered from 4 to 6 p.m., at the Pulaski County Public Library, Winamac.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7:30 p.m.; and Saturdays at 6:30 p.m., at the Methodist Church in Winamac. Al-Anon meets every Monday at 7:30 p.m., same location. For information, call 946-3735 or 946-4096.

Tuesdays
Art Classes for adults of all ages are offered at 9:30 a.m., at the Von Tobel Center, Winamac.

•The Winamac Kiwanis Club meets at 12 noon, at the First United Methodist Church fellowship hall.

Wednesdays

•Pulaski Memorial Hospital’s OB department offers a free breastfeeding drop-in clinic for all mothers, regardless of where the baby was delivered. This clinic is an opportunity to get all your questions answered by Julie Decker, a PMH OB associate and a certified lactation consultant. The clinic is held every Wednesday, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., in the conference room at the main entrance of the hospital. The clinic is free and no appointment is necessary.

Free Open Gym is offered (during the school year) at Eastern Pulaski Elementary School for adults. Adult Volleyball runs from 6 to 9 p.m., in the cafeteria; and Adult Basketball runs from 6:45 to 9 p.m., in the gym.

Pulaski Memorial Hospital has launched its newspeaker’s bureau, complete with Power Point presentations. This is a free service to any civic, club or church organizations. Available topics include: Radiology contact Jim Pingle at 574-946-2138; Home Health contact Vicki White at 574-946-2146; Hospice contact Karen Utes at 574-946-2140; Oncology contact Kelly Ortman at 574-946-2180; Maternity contact Sharon Berry at 574-946-2113; Rehab Services contact Will Fox at 574-946-2156; and the Winamac Specialists’ Clinic contact Melissa Jones at 574-946-2147.

•The Pulaski Memorial Hospital Auxiliary has volunteer openings for both men and women. Areas of service include Reception Desk, Gift Shop, Hostess Program and Patients Services. For more information call 574-946-2100.

•The Pulaski Memorial Hospice is in need of men and women volunteers. For information about this opportunity call 574-946-2140 and ask for Karen Utes. The volunteer Chaplains Program is looking for pastors interested in becoming a part of the volunteer chaplain’s team. Call 574-298-5033.

•Due to budget constraints, a Social Security representative will not be at Pulaski Memorial Hospital for the foreseeable future. If you need to contact Social Security, call 1-800-772-1213 or visit www.socialsecurity.gov.

When the Bough Breaks is a grief support group for those who have lost an infant, experienced a stillbirth, a miscarriage, or SIDS. This is a free service of Pulaski Memorial Hospital for residents of Pulaski and neighboring counties. For more information, call 946-2180.

•Families First offers a Free Smoking Cessation Program. The trained cessation therapist will provide counseling and support to those interested in quitting. Call 946-6017 to schedule an appointment.

•A Walk-In Immunization Clinic is available at the Healthy Families Office on the third floor of the County Building, Winamac, during business hours, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Vaccines available include DTaP, EIPV, Hib, HepB, MMR, Td. Please bring any previous immunization records.

•The Sweet Beginnings Prenatal Program at Healthy Families offers a walk-in clinic at the County Building, Winamac, providing prenatal care coordination services. Services include free urine pregnancy testing, risk assessment and referral to other community services, including medical provider and financial coverage. Services are offered during regular business hours, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Call 946-6017 for information.
