Dorothy Hoesel Huddleston

WINAMAC - Word has been received of the death of Dorothy Hoesel Huddleston, 96, who passed away Feb. 4. She was a resident at Falcons Landing, Sterling VA, and formerly of Winamac.
She was born and raised in Winamac, the ninth of 11 children of Charles and Nettie Hoesel. She was the last surviving sibling. She married Col. Joseph J. Huddleston (USAF) who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Huddleston is survived by a son, Joseph Hayes (JoAnn) Huddleston; granddaughters: Julie (Ken) Freyberger, Jill (Chad) McClelland, and five great-grand children: Nicole, Alec, Brad Freyberger, and Gwyn and Charlie McClelland.
Mrs. Huddleston attended Indiana University, and was a 75-year member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday (July 15), at Winamac Cemetery, with Rev. Matt Landry officiating.
Arrangements are being handled by Frain Mortuary, Winamac.

WINAMAC - Leah Jane Newman, 78, Winamac, passed away at 5:06 a.m., Thursday, July 7, at her residence.
She was born July 30, 1932, in Star City, to the late Ernest and Ethel Teel Cosgray. On June 23, 1956, in the Star City United Methodist Church, she married Joe William Newman. He passed away on Oct. 14, 2003.

Mrs. Newman was employed from 1950-1956 at Shepherd's Auto, Winamac, and Plumbing Supply Co. in South Bend. She also had been employed at the Army and Air Force Exchange in Chicago. She was a co-founder of the Red Hat River Rats and believed "In life it's not the hat you choose, but the way you wear it!"
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Friday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday (July 9), at the funeral home with Rev. Lore Blinn Gibson officiating. Burial will be in McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winamac Park Gift Fund.

NORTH JUDSON - Roy L. Hall, 86, Kewanna, passed away Wednesday, June 15.
He was born March 20, 1925.
Survivors include daughters, Sherry (Bob) Paulsen of North Judson and Patricia (Steve) Clapp of Medaryville; sisters, Mary Posten of Kewanna, Evelyn Watson of Valparaiso and Mildred Wireman of Wheatfield.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. (CDT), Saturday (July 2), at Independence Cemetery, Medaryville.
The O’Donnell Funeral Home in North Judson, is in charge of arrangements.

WINAMAC - Margaret A. Hurford, 50, of Monterey, passed away at 3:47 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac.
She was born Feb. 28, 1961, in Logansport, to William and Lena Shideler Zehner. She married Michael R. Hurford on April 24, 1982, in Monterey. He survives.

Mrs. Hurford graduated from Culver Community High School in 1979. She was a member of St. Mary's of the Lake Catholic Church, Culver, and attended St. Anne's Catholic Church, Monterey. She was the custodian of St. Anne's Catholic School when it was in operation, and also worked in the daycare at St. Mary's of the Lake Catholic Church, Culver.
Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m., Sunday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m..
The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m., Monday (June 27), at St. Mary's of the Lake Catholic Church, Culver, with Father Thadeus Balinda officiating. Burial will be in St. Anne's Cemetery, Monterey.
Memorial donations may be given to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Culver.

MEDARYVILLE - Simonette Foust, 90, Medaryville died at 12:40 a.m., Wednesday, June 15, at Parkview Haven Retirement Home in Francesville.
She was born Jan. 9, 1921, in Francesville, to the late Godfrey and Tina Riggs Fritz. Simonette was married to Fred Foust Aug. 2, 1941. He died on Feb. 22, 1986.

Mrs. Foust was a member of the Medaryville Christian Church and the Ladies Aid Society. She was a former Sunday School teacher. She was a former seamstress at the Medaryville Garment factory. She was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed embroidery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m., Friday, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel Medaryville. The funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday (June 18), at the funeralhome, with Don Nedza and Dean Tanner officiating. Burial will be in White Post Cemetery, at Medaryville.

Richard E. Barker

WINAMAC - Richard E. "Goph" Barker, 54, Winamac, passed away at 8:33 p.m., Sunday, June 12, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac.
He was born Nov. 12, 1956, in Logansport, to the late Robert and Eleanor Mae "Candy" Girton Barker.

2 Nieces and 1 Nephew
Mr. Barker was a carpenter. He was the owner of Barker Construction in Winamac. He was a former officer of ABATE. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and all outdoor activities including hunting, fishing and camping.
Services will be scheduled at a later date.
Memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society.

NORTH JUDSON - Dawson Dean Fisher Rater, infant, Winamac, passed away Friday, June 3, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend.
Survivors include father Jeffery D. Rater, mother, Marian R. Fisher, sisters, Katelyn and Athena Fisher, brother Jarrod Jones.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. (CDT), Saturday (June 11), at Highland Cemetery, North Judson. Interment will take place at the cemetery at 10 a.m., Monday June 20.
O'Donnell Funeral Home, North Judson is handling arrangements.
