Catherine S. Hubeny

December 17, 1912 to September 22, 2011

KEWANNA - Catherine S. Hubeny, 98 of Culver, formerly of Kewanna, passed away at 7:15 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 22, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Culver.

Born Dec. 17, 1912 in Kewanna, she was the daughter of the late William and Pearl (Cook) Starr. On April 14, 1936 she married James Hubeny, Jr. and he preceded her in death on March 2, 1988.

Survivors include her daughters, Dorothy Miller and her husband Tom of Plymouth and Martha Kurz and her husband Richard of Kewanna, brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Alma Hubeny of Kewanna, 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, George, Wallace, Kenneth and Lewis Starr, sisters, Lorena Johnson, Mildred Mason and Alta Miller and great grandson, Brent Kurz.

Mrs. Hubeny was a 1932 Kewanna High School graduate. She was a retired cook at Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester. She was also a homemaker and a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Kewanna.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m., Monday (Sept. 26), at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Winamac, with Father Bert Woolson officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Ann’s Catholic Church.

Virginia C. Eide

March 16, 1947 to September 21, 2011

WINAMAC - Virginia Carol "Babe" Eide, 64, of Park Forest, IL, passed away at 9:37 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21, at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis.

She was born March 16, 1947, in Logansport, to the late Charles and Virginia DeHority Eide Sr.

Ms. Eide recently maintained a residence in Monticello. She was the former manager of Party Liquors in Steger, IL. She enjoyed cooking and playing with her cat. She enjoyed playing with her great niece and nephews.

No services will be scheduled.

Memorial donations may be given to the Riley Children's Hospital.

Jane Hartle

February 1, 1951 to September 17, 2011

WINAMAC - Jane E. Hartle, 60, of Monterey, passed away at 1:31 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 17, at St. Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital, Indianapolis.

She was born Feb. 1, 1951, in Winamac, to the late Amos J. and Sarah Kathryn Reinholt Peterson. She married Jarrel A. Hartle on July 30, 1971, in the First Christian Church, Winamac. He survives.

Mrs. Hartle  was a member of the Lawton Christian Church, Red Hat Society, and was a 10-year member of 4-H. She was formerly employed as an aide for Pulaski County Head Start, Winamac, for many years. She was a longtime caretaker for her parents. Jane enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, painting, and baking.
She looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchild.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday (Sept.  21), at the funeral home with Rev. Jarrel Hartle officiating. Burial will be in San Pierre Cemetery, San Pierre.

Memorial donations may be given to: Lawton Christian Church, or St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

Elizabeth Frazier

August 10, 1929 to September 17, 2011

WINAMAC - Elizabeth L. "Betty" Frazier, 82, Winamac, passed away at 9:22 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 17, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.

She was born Aug. 10, 1929, in Winamac,  to the late Frank and Velma Rude Spicer. She married Kenneth Jay "Blackie" Frazier on Sept. 29, 1956, in Winamac. He passed away on Feb. 22, 1995.

Mrs. Frazier retired from United Telephone Co. where she was a telephone operator for over 30 years. She
was a past member of the O.E.S. #96, Shrine Women's Club, and Eagles #2580 Auxillary. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, bird watching, and puzzles. She also enjoyed traveling.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Friday (Sept. 23), at the funeral home with Rev. Edward Clark officiating. Burial will be in McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac.

Memorial donations may be given to Shrine Children's Hospital or Riley Children's Hospital.

Leamon E. Allen

March 17, 1919 to September 17, 2011

WINAMAC - Leamon E. Allen, 92, Winamac, passed away at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 17, at Life Care Center, Rochester.

He was born March 17, 1919, in Bradford, TN, to the late John Hall and Pearlie Billips Allen. He married Gladys Bellah on Feb. 16, 1955, in Gary. She survives.

Mr. Allen was a steel worker for 25 years for US Steel, Gary. He had been a resident of Winamac since 1984, coming from Merrillville. He was a member of the Winamac Assembly of God Church in Winamac. 
He was a member of the Winamac VFW #1728 & Winamac American Legion #71. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and the Steelworkers Union. Leamon enjoyed fishing, hunting, wood working, and was a member of the ISAAK Walton League.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m., Monday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac; and one hour before the service Tuesday at the church. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday (Sept. 20) at Church of the Heartland, Winamac, with Pastor Jim Howard officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery, Rochester. Military graveside services will be conducted.

Memorial donations may be given to the Winamac Assembly of God Church.

Lloyd H. Overmyer

March 5, 1925 to September 17, 2011

WINAMAC - Lloyd H. Overmyer, 86, Monterey, passed away at 6:06 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 17, at his son Tim's residence in Monterey.

He was born March 5, 1925, in Monterey, the son of the late Frank and Grace Warmbrod Overmyer. He married Jean Griffin on Sept. 29, 1957, in Young America, IN. She passed away on Aug. 7, 1998.

Mr. Overmyer was a farmer. He was a lifetime resident of Monterey and was a graduate of Monterey High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II. He was Indiana State Rural Youth President in 1955. He was a 4-H leader for over 40 years.

He was also a member of the board of director's of Fulton County REMC for 15 years. He served as a member of the board of director's of the Pulaski County Farm Bureau Co-op for 25 years, and served on the Farm Bureau Inc. board. He was a former Tippecanoe Twp. Precinct Committeeman for the Pulaski County Republican Party for many years.

He spent most of his life as a farmer and retired from the Pulaski County Highway Department after 20
years. He was a member of the Ora Gospel Chapel where he taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the Pulaski County Gideon Camp.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m.,  Wednesday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday (Sept. 22), at the funeral home with Bill Huffman officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Cemetery, Monterey. Military graveside services will be conducted.
