FRANCESVILLE - Virginia C. Masten, 64, Fort Wayne, formerly of Francesville, passed away at 11:45 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 22, at Life Care Center of Fort Wayne, Fort Wayne.

She was born Aug. 7, 1947, in Francesville, to Virgil C. Sr. and Viola C. Winzeler VonTobel.

Mrs. Masten grew up in Francesville and attended the Apostolic Christian Church. She graduated from Francesville High School in 1965. She spent most of her adult life in southern Indiana before moving to Ft. Wayne, two years ago. She enjoyed reading and music. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday at  Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Francesville. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. (Thursday, Jan. 26), at the funeral home with the ministers of the Apostolic Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery, Francesville.

Memorial donations may be given to Humanitarian Distribution Center (PO Box 707 Francesville, IN 47946).

Orville M. Timmons

November 13, 1916 to January 21, 2012

MEDARYVILLE - Orville M. "Shorty" Timmons, 95, Wheatfield, passed away at 5 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 21, at the home of his daughter, LuAnn Allen, Medaryville.

He was born Nov. 13, 1916., in Moody, IN, to the late Henry and Frances McCullough Timmons. He married Georgia M. Ream on Dec. 5, 1939, in Winamac, IN. She passed away on March 12, 2008.

Mr. Timmons was a retired farmer. He lived most of his life in the Medaryville area. He enjoyed fishing, watching westerns and wrestling. He loved to spend time with his family.

Friends may call from  4 to 8 p.m., Monday, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Medaryville. The funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday (Jan. 24),, at the funeral home with Rev. Tom Dewlen officiating. Burial will take place in Independence Cemetery, Medaryville.

Arpha Fletcher

June 5, 1932 to January 12, 2012

KNOX - Arpha Fletcher, 79, of Winamac,  passed away Thursday, Jan. 12, at Hickory Creek Nursing Home.

She was born June 5, 1932.

Survivors include sons, Vernon (Cynthia), Craig (Lori) and Duane (Denise) Fletcher; brothers, Isreal (Verna) and Daniel Cole; sister, Emogene Taulbee; 7 grand & 7 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Fletcher was a housewife who loved spending time with her family and playing Bingo.

Visitation is after 10 a.m. (CST), Monday, at the Braman and Son Memorial Chapel, Knox. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. (CST), (Monday, Jan. 16), at the funeral home. Burial wil be in Highland Cemetery.

Marjorie R. Layne Golan

December 23, 1919 to January 19, 2012

WINAMAC - Marjorie Roberta Layne Golan, 92, Elmhurst, IL, formerly of Winamac, passed away at 1:12 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 19, at her residence. 

She was born Dec. 23, 1919 in Fort Worth, Texas to the late Guthrie F. and Allie U. Thomas Layne. She married Charles Golan II on April 17, 1937 in Cameron, TX. He died on Nov. 29, 1999.

Mrs. Golan moved from Lyons, IL to Winamac in 1979. She returned to the Chicago area to be close to her daughters and son. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, baking and reading. She had worked for Sears Roebuck & Co. as an office support staff employee.

Friends may call from 11 to 3 p.m., Saturday (Feb. 4), at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m., (Saturday, Feb. 4), at the funeral home, with Rev. Matt Landry officiating.
Burial will be in Winamac Cemetery, Winamac.

Memorial donations may be given to Starke County Humane Society. 

Dolores O'Connor Haselby

May 15, 1930 to January 18, 2012

WINAMAC - Dolores C. O'Connor Haselby, 81, of Winamac, died at 11:15 a.m., Wednesday, Jan.18, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac.

She was born May 15, 1930, in Chicago Heights, IL, to the late Mathias A. and Rose M. Schutz Loehmer. She married Richard G. O'Connor on Aug. 19, 1950 in Winamac. He died Jan. 28, 1960. She married Ivan D. "Ike" Haselby on Dec. 26, 1992 in Winamac. He survives.

Mrs. O'Connor Haselby was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Winamac. She was also a member of the Christian Mothers, Ladies of Charity, and the Daughters of Isabella. She served as Monroe Township Trustee, Pulaski County Treasurer 1985-1992 and Pulaski County Auditor 1993-1996. She was active in the Democrat Party. She was the former president of the Pulaski County Heart Association.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening and quilting. She enjoyed politics. She enjoyed refinishing and reupholstering furniture. She enjoyed music, dancing and playing cards.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m., Friday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac.The rosary, Christian Mothers Service, and Ladies of Charity Prayer will begin at 7:30 p.m., immediately followed by a scriptural wake service. The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m., Saturday (Jan. 21) at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Winamac, with Rev. Martin Sandhage officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Winamac.

Memorial Contributions may be given to St. Peter's Catholic Church or the local charity of the donor's choice. 

Grace Waterhouse

October 29, 1919 to January 13, 2012

WINAMAC - Grace D. Waterhouse, 91, of Winamac, passed away at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 13, at Hickory Creek, Winamac.

She was born Oct. 29, 1920, in Cambridge, MA, to the late John and Mary Manganaro. She married John T. Waterhouse on Sept. 19, 1938, in Cambridge, MA.  He passed away August 20, 1989.

MEDARYVILLE - Linda E. Davis, 67, of Medaryville, passed away at 11:20 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 12, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 2, 1945, in Rensselaer, to the late Adam and Esther Hockleberg Smith. She married Kenneth E. Davis on Dec. 16, 1962, in the Medaryville Christian Church. He survives.
