Barbara J. Bortkiewicz

July 4, 1942 to January 17, 2013

MEDARYVILLE - Barbara J. Bortkiewicz, 70, Medaryville, died Thursday, Jan. 17.

She was born July 4, 1942 to the late Charlie and Nellie Rowe Sallee. She married Frank J. Bortkiewicz. He survives.

Dorman R. Wolff Jr.

September 20, 1936 to January 11, 2013

WALKERTON - Dorman R. Wolff Jr., 76, of Winamac, formerly of Elkhart and South Bend, passed away at 6:55 p.m., Friday, Jan. 11, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, after an extended illness.

He was born on Sept. 20, 1936, in South Bend, to the late Dorman Sr. and Mary Waneta (Bromley) Wolff. He married Patricia A. Shippy on Sept. 27, 1958, in New Carlisle. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Barry E. Wolff of Winamac, Dorman D. (Cecille) Wolff of Albuquerque, N.M., Mark R. (Kathryn) Wolff of Kodak, TN, and James M. (Gina) Wolff of Mishawaka; a sister, Meriem B. Letherman of South Bend; a brother, John C. Wolff of Kennewick, Washington; eight grandchildren, Zach, Mitch, Ryan, Rachel, Emilly, Karly, Alicia and Sophie; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Corpe, and a grandson, Graham R. Wolff. 

Mr. Wolff resided in the Winamac area for the past eight years, coming from the Elkhart and South Bend area. He retired from Raco Corporation located in South Bend in 1999 after many years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served with the 82nd Airborne Unit. He was a member of the Winamac American Legion Post 71. His hobbies were golfing, ice fishing, and all sports. He was an avid Notre Dame football fan, Green Bay Packers fan, and Chicago White Sox fan. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and all who had the opportunity to know this wonderful man during his life journey.

Mr. Wolff's wishes were to be cremated and remembered in life. His family honored his wishes. There will be no visitation hours or funeral services. A graveside service with military rites will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 17th, at Highland Cemetery, South Bend, with Pastor Vickie VanNevel officiating.

The family request that all memorial donations be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

John R. Mangum

October 5, 1960 to January 8, 2013

ROYAL CENTER - Pastor John R. Mangum, 52, of Fulton, formerly of Royal Center, died at 6:51 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 5, 1960 in Whittier, Calif., he was the son of the late John R. Mangum, Sr. and Mary June DeShon Smiley. On Feb. 15, 1992, he married Michelle L. Smith, she survives.

Also surviving are his children, John Michael, Jennavive and James all at home; sisters, Julie Mangum of Chino, Calif., Patty Doughty (Mike) of Many, LA, Katie Hudson (Adam) of Running Springs, CA and Laura Diener (Brett) of Many, LA; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ron and Edna Smith of Kokomo; brother-in-law, Ron S. Smith, II (Shannon) of Kokomo and sister-in-law, Heather Schimmelpfennig (Dean) of Kokomo. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Pastor Mangum was currently serving at Fulton United Methodist Church and Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church at Lake Bruce. He also was a member and Chaplain of the Royal Center Masonic Lodge #585. He formerly pastored at Park Place Church of God in Bedford and San Bernardino Church of God in San Bernardino, Calif. He was a U.S. Army veteran who loved spending time his wife and children. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Visiting with the family will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the services on Saturday (Jan. 12) at the Royal Center United Methodist Church Family Life Center. A Celebration of  Life service with Masonic and military rites will follow at 3 p.m., with Pastor Kevin Drane officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to Community State Bank in Royal Center where there has been a fund placed in care of the Mangum Family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Royal Center.

June E. Cheadle

August 18, 1923 to January 16, 2013

WINAMAC - June E. Cheadle, 89, of Winamac, passed away at 7 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Pulaski Health Care Center, Winamac.

She was born Aug. 18, 1923, in Chicago, to the late Alfred and E. Amanda Hoagland Johnanson. She married Loren P. Cheadle on Aug. 17, 1946, in Oak Lawn, IL. He survives. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Mrs. Cheadle was a former resident of Chicago, and had been employed at Litton Industries and Red Tag, both of Chicago. She retired from Sun Ray Cleaners, Chicago in 1961. She and her husband moved to Winamac in 1984. She was a member of the Red Hat Society at the Pulaski Health Care Center where she had resided the past three years. She was a very active resident at the center.

Friends may call after 10 a.m., Friday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will follow at 12 noon (Friday, Jan.18), at the funeral home with Rev. Matt Landry officiating. Burial will be in McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac.

Memorial donations may be given to Pulaski Health Care Center.

Robert Wayne Geddes

December 29, 1918 to January 10, 2013

WINAMAC - Robert Wayne Geddes, 94, Celeste, TX, formerly of Winamac, passed away at Thursday, Jan. 10, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 29, 1918, in Rockford, IL, to the late Robert and Lyle Geddes. He married Barbara Jean Evans on April 24, 1953, in Logansport. She passed away on Dec. 8, 1990.

Mr. Geddes was a member of the Professional Rodeo Association. He was a longtime resident of Winamac, moving to Texas in 1999. He was a retired truck driver and formerly worked at Galbreath Inc. He was a saddle maker and worked with leather.

According to Mr. Gedde's wishes, his body has been donated to science.

A graveside service and burial will be held at Star City West Cemetery, Star City, at a later date.

Memorial donations may be given to Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund, 101 Pro Rodeo Drive, Colorado Springs, CO, 80919. One-hundred percent of the proceeds are given to injured cowboys.   

James R. Graham

September 13, 1978 to January 10, 2013

FRANCESVILLE - James Robert Eugene "Jim Bob" Graham, 34, of Winamac, passed away at 6:15 p.m.,Thursday, Jan. 10, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, after a long battle with congestive heart failure.

He was born Sept.13, 1978 in Winamac to Robert "Bob" and Janet Disinger Graham, who survive. On March 3, 2007 he married Ashley Cotner. She survives.

Mr. Graham attended Pleasant Ridge Bible Church in Francesville. He was a 1998 graduate of Winamac Community High School and a 2000 graduate of Lincoln Technical Institute in Indianapolis. He had worked as a mechanic, farmer, and self-employed truck driver. He owned and operated Grahams Transport, Inc. He liked to shoot clay pigeons and to ride horses. He loved spending time with his family, especially his niece and nephew. He was a loving husband, son, and brother. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He enjoyed life to the fullest.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Francesville. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday (Jan. 16), at the funeral home, with Leonard Allen officiating. Burial will be in Tippecanoe Cemetery, Winamac.
