Dorothy Agnew Arbuckle

January 13,1919 to December 31, 2016

RENSSELAER - Dorothy Lois (Agnew) Arbuckle, 97, of Rensselaer, passed away Saturday, Dec. 31, at George Ade Memorial Health Care Center.

She was born in Winamac on Jan. 13, 1919, the daughter of the late Lon B. and Eva Margaret (Williamson) Agnew. She attended school at Hanging Grove School, Rensselaer. On Aug. 24, 1935, in Rensselaer, she married Orion Thomas Arbuckle. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1995.

She is survived by one son, Russell Harvey Arbuckle and daughter-in-law Arlene Marie Arbuckle of Bradley, IL; four granddaughters: Lisa Peco of Tampa, FL, Lana Arbuckle of Chicago, Angela Good of North Fort Myers, FL, and Amy (John) Geary of Kankakee, IL; six great-grandchildren: Brandon (Nichol) and Justin Peco, Torin, Jack, and Hannah Geary, and Chloe Good; three great-great grandchildren: Aubrey, Dylan and Avery Peco; and four nieces: Martha Agnew Klauer of Hebron, Marjory (Mike) Agnew Elden of Galesburg, IL, and Dorothy Rectinbaugh and Joanne Pierce of Creston, IA.

She was preceded in death: by one sister, Mildred (John) Craft; four brothers: James “Ben” (Hulda) Agnew, William Bruce Agnew, Joseph Brant (Pauline) Agnew, and Robert Charles (Phyllis) Agnew; and two nieces, Mary Edith Agnew Wilkerson and Margaret Agnew.

Mrs. Arbuckle helped her husband farm. She also had worked at Schumacher Electric Corp. in Rensselaer for 18 years. She was a very compassionate person who enjoyed helping others.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017 from 12 noon (CST) until time of funeral at 2 p.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Rev. Marcia Smith-Wood officiating. Interment will follow at Milroy Cemetery.

Deborah Hoh

July 5, 1948 to December 29, 2016

WINAMAC - Deborah Sue Hoh, 68, of Winamac  passed away at 4:20 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 29, at her residence.

She was born July 5, 1948 in Zanesville, OH to the late Edwin A. and Virginia Hardman Wine. She married Cletis Wayne Hoh on Aug. 7, 1982 in Jasper County. He survives.

She is also survived by her daughters, Shannon and Faith; her granddaughter, Olivia; her sister, Donna; her brothers, David and Danny; as well as several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her nephew, Shawn.

Mrs. Hoh had worked as head of accounting at a large insurance firm in Chicago for nearly 30 years. She enjoyed making miniatures out of clay, playing on her Kindle and crocheting. She loved spending time with her friends. She will be sadly missed.

No services will be held.

February 20, 1945 to January 1, 2017

WINAMAC - Donna Ann Agerton Larmon Stamper, 71, of Hobart passed away at home  Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017.

She was born Feb. 20, 1945 in Alton, IL to the late Harold and Lillie Hester Rutledge.

Mrs. Stamper was a retired cook from Lake Park Residential Care. She enjoyed playing Solitaire and Bunco. She loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

The family will host a memorial service at 5 p.m. (CT) Thursday, Jan. 5, at Black Oak Baptist Church in Gary, with Pastor Bob Parnell officiating. Private burial of cremated remains will be at McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac.

JoAnn Behny

December 25, 1926 to December 30, 2016

WINAMAC - JoAnn Behny, 90, of Winamac passed away at 6:35 a.m., Friday, Dec. 30, at Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester.

She was born Dec. 25, 1926 in Indianapolis to the late Walter G. and Mary E. Presser Lange. She was a 1944 graduate of Winamac High School and attended Indiana University, where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. On March 17, 1946, she married Donald G. Behny. He passed away Sept. 11, 2007.

Mrs. Behny was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Winamac. She was a member of the Tippecanoe Chapter #96 OES where she had been Past Matron, Past Deputy District 17, and former Rainbow Mother Advisor. She was also a former Brownie and Girl Scout Leader and past president of the Winamac Alumni Association. Mrs. Behny retired as vital records registrar and office manager from the Pulaski County Health Department in 1997. Prior to that, she had worked as a secretary at Winamac High School and the Hospital Planning Foundation. She enjoyed playing golf in the Women's Golf League at Moss Creek Country Club as well as playing cards with her friends in the Bridge Club. She also enjoyed knitting, reading, and crossword puzzles.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 5, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac with an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 6, at the funeral home with Pastors Jeff Seger and Rick Abbott officiating. Burial will be at Winamac Cemetery, Winamac.

Memorial donations may be made to the Community Foundation of Pulaski County for the First Christian Church in Winamac.

WiNAMAC - Patsy L. “Pat” Brew, 80, of Winamac, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 27, at her residence in Winamac.

She was born Feb. 26, 1936 to the late Lino and Eva Miller Salinas. She married Roy “Pete” Brew on Aug. 1, 1970 in Royal Center. He survives.

Mrs. Brew graduated from North Judson High School. She worked at General Tire in Logansport for several years. She also was a produce manager at Sanders grocery in Winamac for several years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Winamac. She enjoyed bowling, painting and cooking. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m., Friday, Dec. 30, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Pilger officiating. Private burial will be at McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac.

Chris E. Calentine

August 11, 1947 to December 25, 2016

WINAMAC - Chris E. Calentine, 69, of Lake Bruce, passed away at 9:36 p.m., Sunday, Dec/ 25, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac.

He was born Aug. 11, 1947 in Mattoon, IL. On April 30, 1972, he married Tae Cha Kim. She survives.

He is also survived by:
Clifford Calentine, Son 
Sheri Spear, Daughter 
Ken Freestone, Son 
Many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren 
Several Brothers and Sisters 

Mr. Calentine served in the U.S. Navy. He and his wife owned a food concession business and together they enjoyed preparing and cooking food. He also enjoyed making and designing jewelry. He was an avid fisherman.

The family will host a private celebration of life service.
