Raymond D. Bloch II

December 14, 1958 to July 21, 2017

FRANCESVILLE - Raymond D. Bloch II, 58, of Francesville, passed away at 8:09 p.m., Friday, July 21, with his family by his side, at St. Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital, Indianapolis.

He was born Dec. 14, 1958 in Detroit, to Raymond D. and Patricia Wien Bloch. On July 1, 2003 he married Tansy Woodson at their home. She survives.

Mr. Bloch was proud to be part of the transportation industry for 33 years. He was a member of the NRA and the "Goon Squad" bike club. He enjoyed watching baseball and hockey. He loved his family very much, especially spending time with his grandchildren. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

A gathering of friends will be held at Ray and Tansy's home at a later date.

Margaret M. Costello

January 5, 1947 to July 3, 2017

WINAMAC - Margaret M. Costello, 70, of Chicago, passed away Monday, July 3.

She was born Jan. 5, 1947 in Chicago to the late George and Mary Ellen Scheetz Costello.

A memorial mass was held Saturday, July 8, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Kewanna,  with her brother, Rev. John Costello officiating. Burial of cremated remains took place at St. Ann Cemetery, Kewanna.

Frain Mortuary, Winamac, assisted the family with local arrangements. 

Phyllis J. Nufer

November 19, 1931 to July 14, 2017

WINAMAC - Phyllis J. Nufer , 85, of Winamac, passed away at 12:46 a.m., Friday, July 14, at Pulaski Health Care Center, Winamac.

She was born Nov. 19, 1931 in Star City, to the late Clinton and Esther Schultz Drach. On Feb. 9, 1957 she married Joseph R. Nufer. He passed away March 4, 2004.

She is survived by:

Mrs. Nufer was a homemaker. She had worked in the dietary department of Pulaski Memorial Hospital. She had also worked as a cleaner at the former Winamac Cleaning and Laundry. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and had been active in the Christian Mothers. She enjoyed automobile racing and trips to Las Vegas. She also enjoyed playing cards.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, July 17, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. A scriptural wake service will be at 7 p.m., immediately followed by a rosary service. The funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 18, at St. Peters Catholic Church in Winamac, with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman officiating. Burial will be at St. Peters Cemetery, Winamac.

Memorial donations may be made to the Pulaski Health Care Center, Winamac.

Ruth A. Buikema

November 8, 1941 to July 6, 2017

NORTH JUDSON - Ruth A. Buikema Age 75 of Francesville, passed away July 6.

She was born Nov. 8, 1941 to Henry and Frances (Douglas) Buikema in Allegan, Mich.

She is survived by one sister, Carol Roe, of Winamac.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 8 at Highland Cemetery, North Judson.

O'Donnell Funeral Home, North Judson, is in charge of arrangements.

Derrick W. Myers

July 23, 1970 to July 7, 2017

FRANCESVILLE - Derrick W. Myers, 46, of Lafayette, passed away at 12:52 a.m., Friday, July 7, at St. Elizabeth East Hospital, Lafayette.

He was born July 23, 1970 in Winamac, to Donald W. and Mary M. Eads Myers.

Mr. Myers was a 1990 graduate of West Central High School. He enjoyed driving semi and was an avid NASCAR and Jimmy Johnson fan. He was also a collector of Andy Griffith memorabilia. He was a loving son, father, and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, July 9, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Francesville. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, July 10, at the funeral home with Rev. Tom Dewlen officiating. Burial will be at Roseland Cemetery, Francesville.

Holly D. Sale

July 12, 1956 to June 30, 2017

HUNTINGTON - Holly Diane Sale, 60, of Huntington, died at 5:11 a.m. Friday, June 30, at Parkview Regional Hospital, Fort Wayne.

She was born July 12, 1956 in Logansport, the daughter of James T. and Claire L. (Mars) Connolly. She and Mark Sale were married on Sept. 3, 1983 in Winamac.

Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Mark of Huntington, a sister, Vicki (Jon) Canfield of Fort Wayne, and a brother, Dane (Lori) Connolly of Omaha, Neb. Also surviving are her mother-in-law, Lela Sale of Huntington, five nieces, and two nephews.

Her parents and her father-in-law, Robert Sale, precede her in death.

Mrs. Sale graduated from Winamac Community High School in 1974; she attended Purdue University for two years and graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1978 with a bachelor's degree in physical therapy. In 1989, she earned a master of health science degree in physical therapy from the University of Indianapolis. She started her physical therapy career at Huntington Memorial Hospital in June of 1978, (now Parkview Huntington Hospital), recently completing 39 years. She started as a staff physical therapist, then as director of rehabilitation services, and currently was director of Rehabilitation and Wellness, Physicians Specialty Clinic, and Service Excellence/Patient Experience for the past several years. She had a passion for the patient experience and service excellence, and a special interest in health and wellness and providing for the health care needs of the community.

Mrs. Sale was an active member of Salamonie Church of the Brethren, where she served as choir director, as she loved music and singing. She completed Huntington County Leadership Academy class in 2000. She was currently serving as president of the Huntington County Safety Council, secretary for the Parkview Huntington Boys and Girls Club, president of Huntington University Foundation, Huntington University Board of Trustees, board member with Pathfinder Services, and past board member of United Way and Red Cross. During her membership in Tri Kappa, Chi Chapter of Huntington, she held many offices including past president. She loved watching basketball and football, and was an avid Huntington University and Purdue fan. She enjoyed exercising, reading, and knitting. She loved spending time with family and friends, and loved traveling to the mountains or walking on the beach. She dearly loved her “Marcus Welby.” Romans 8:28 and Psalm 46, were Scriptures she lived by, and gave her comfort.

Visitation will be from 2 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 6, at Salamonie Church of the Brethren, 2662 West 600 South, Huntington, with Dr. Sherilyn Emberton officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Private burial will be at a later time.
