Douglas V. Blastic

August 2, 1938 to June 29, 2024

ROYAL CENTER – Douglas V. Blastic, 85, of Logansport passed away Saturday June 29 at his home surrounded by family.

Born Aug. 2, 1938 in Logansport, he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Gast) Blastic. He was a 1956 graduate from Winamac High School where he was a southpaw pitcher and a Chicago White Sox prospect. He served in the U.S. Navy as an electrician aboard the USS Intrepid aircraft carrier. After his service he received a master’s degree in education from Indiana State University.

Survivors include his children Jodavid (Merly) Blastic of Camby and Deanna (Pete) Moreno of Madison County. His grandchildren are Michael (Olivia) Moreno of Somerset, Mallary Moreno of Mary Ester, Fla., Julia (Devin) Carmichael of Greenwood, Manny Moreno of Dayton, Ohio, and CJ Blastic of Camby. His great-grandchildren are Tinley Moreno and Carson Carmichael. He also leaves his best friend, Sharon March of Winamac.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Eugene Blastic.

Mr. Blastic taught printing at Logansport High School for 28 years. Additionally, he sold and installed floor covering under his company, Blastic’s Floor Covering. He invented and received a patent for the Golf Cart Score Card Holder. He founded Score-It Company where he manufactured and sold his product. He was an avid golfer. He enjoyed home improvement projects and was a multi skilled handyman. He loved to create devices that made life easier.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, July 5, at Ever Rest Memorial Park.
