André A. Neihouser

February 11, 1937 to October 24, 2021

FRANCESVILLE - André Adrian Neihouser, 84, of Francesville, passed away peacefully, Sunday, Oct. 24, bathed in singing and prayers and surrounded by family at The Springs of Lafayette senior care facility.

He was born Feb. 11, 1937 in Francesville to the late Pierre and Catherine Wuethrich Neihouser. In 1955 he graduated from Francesville High School where he played both baseball and basketball, enjoying a successful senior season. He attended Purdue University Short Course studying agriculture. He married Lois Hodel on April 12, 1959. She survives.

He is also survived by sons Brad (Barbara), Francesville, and Jeff (Sue), Morton, IL and daughters Michelle (Tom), Glenview, IL and Andrea (Darin) of Hamden, CT; plus nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and  siblings Perry (Sally) Neihouser, Yvonne Gutwein, Renee Sinn, Marie (Akito) Inoue, Marcelle (Ron) Gress, and Sharon Neihouser.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Debra, and brothers-in-law Carl Gutwein and Walter Sinn.

Mr. Neihouser farmed near Francesville until his retirement. In addition to the Amway business he operated with his wife, he also drove a school bus and charter buses. He loved taking his family on vacation, whether it be traveling by car around the Midwest or traveling by air to visit his sister in Japan or relatives in France. He was an avid sportsman, taking numerous fishing and hunting trips throughout the Midwest and Alaska and Canada, always in the company of his close friends. He also showed his love and respect for U.S. veterans by playing Taps at military funerals for many years. He gave his life to the Lord Jesus in high school and lived out his trust in the Lord through his devotion to his family, church, and friends. His generosity and service to others was demonstrated by organizing a group to sing to shut-ins to provide encouragement to them. He was a big man with an even bigger heart for those in need. He was devoted to his family.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 29, at Frain Mortuary Querrry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Apostolic Christian Church in Francesville. Burial will be at Roseland Cemetery, Francesville.
