WINAMAC - John D. “JD” Matthews, 79, of Knox, passed away at 6:28 p.m., Tuesday, July 20, at Winterson Village in Knox.

He was born Jan. 15, 1942 in East Prairie, MO to the late Charlie B. and Helen Fleming Matthews. He married Reathey Flippo. She survives.

Mr. Matthews worked his entire life in the steel mill industry. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 3 p.m., Friday, July 30, at The Alexander Heinemann Memorial Cemetery in Ora. Burial will follow.

Memorial donations may be made to the Memorial Swinging Bridge Project.
